6-18, 1 int, 0 TD. Only 93 yards.

Even our secondary might look good for the opener.

That defense is going to keep a lot of games close for them. They could have one of the better D's in the league this year..if used properly

lets not get ahead of ourselves

If the defense keeps up its preseason pace, Kizer will look like the ROY in the opener.
No worries. Tomlin always has this team ready to roll in the first game, and we always do well against teams we are supposed to beat easily.

its going to be can we score td's when we are in the red zone to have a good lead to lay back and control t.o.p thier ol is week aside from joe, with the speed they added its going to about get the bell to brown rogers bryant bell fast avoid Garrett Peppers and Nassib. I with the CB issues would trade a 3rd for haden, he at this point is still a upgrade over russ

yet he won the starting spot, sad isn't it?

Being our first game and not really seeing the energy I expected from this team, I'm somewhat concerned how we will respond. I have seen the Browns play three times and they are high on energy, weather they had a poor record last year or the QB hasn't done well, we in all reality have not sown much in preseason and winning two the way we have means little. We have had a lot of injuries and many have played little. My hope Tomlin gets them ready for Cleveland but the big BUT rises he hasn't shown this in the past.

I'm sure the Steelers will make it look like he's the second coming of Joe Montana. Just know every time we give up a 3rd and long(to some scrub non hof type qb)a baby kitten dies.

Just like they did Carson Wentz last season.

Hmmmm, did you actually watch the game(s)? PS3 game stats for Kizer don't really tell the tale for him accurately. There were multiple drops right in the hands/numbers for his WRs. He's going to be given better than average time behind their line, and he's gonna be full on Andy Dalton II, just like when Hue had him in Cincy. Heavy on the short crossers and RB dump offs and handing off most of the time. And he can run. He's a rook, so he's going to make mistakes. But he didn't look like Osweiler, Kesler, or even Landry Saturday.

Yes. I saw him on NFL network. They replay ALL of the pre-season games. Lots of rookies QB's are playing, he did not look much better than Dobbs. If dump offs and short crosses are your passing game, you're toast on 3rd down.

In their pre-season games, the dude is just completing 51% of his passes and as you mentioned most of the ones he completes are short and easy types.

But games 1 and 2 he didn't play with/against 1s. He played against scrubs. Different speeds/skill sets. Some/most of guys he saw in game 1 will be door to door Kirby salesmen in less than a month. Game two was against the backups and with the backups. This was his first game, and the "warm up" for regular season for the 1s. He also has zero talent around him other than the O-Line. I'm not saying he's the next coming. I just think he didn't look as bad as the stats indicated and considering it was his first 1s on 1s action for him.

I think he will have his best game of the season in week one. We will just give him everything shoRT and underneath like we have been doing for YEARS. I mean why press the WR's when playing a young inexperienced QB and make him throw the ball into a tight area when you can just play off and let them play pitch and catch.

Tell that to Tom Brady. He didn't have much trouble on third down against the steelers dumping off passes to LAX players.

Not sure a 1 game sample matters much. Ben occasionally looks bad in a particular game as well.

In case you haven't noticed Brady has expert timing and pinpoint accuracy with the ability to audible.

Kizer isn't close to him in this capacity, so I doubt he rips our very suspect secondary apart.

In case you haven't noticed Brady knows where every defensive player is going to be due to his headset audio.

Agreed Coach. Agreed.

I think that if the Steelers don't tighten up that defense, it is going to be a loooooong year. What I saw against the Colts was horrific. The Colts were able to do what they wanted against our #1's for the most part. And that was with Tolzein at QB. Should be an entertaining year.

Kizer looks like the real deal to me. Hope Cleveland ruins him like everyone else though.

Kizer will get steamrolled in week 1. We need to keep him in the pocket and eliminate broken plays.
