Preseason Game #2 - ATL vs. PIT

Statistics aside. I think Houstons pocket presence. Set up, mechanics and anticipation are far ahead of Dobbs. I know they will keep Dobbs but at this point I think Houston is better.

who took steps up an step back after today game,

cockrell definite back IMO

Just like I thought, Dobbs is another poor man's Slash.....wormburners and all

Go Connor!

Houston has done nothing in practice and games

Houston threw into triple coverage in the end zone.....

Houston threw into triple coverage in the end zone.....

He was throwing into the end zone on 4th down, SD. I have zero doubt but that the coaches told him, "no sack. Throw the ******* thing."

Sacks lead to fumbles and fumble returns all the freaking time.

If this were a legit game, then the Steelers kick a FG, obviously. I certainly wish Houston had looked for a better target, but he had pressure coming from his right, he was throwing the ball into the end zone to go for a TD, and did so on 4th freaking down.

What, worried about a turnover so rather he throw the ball into the stands?

I give Houston credit for effort. He had drives, more so extended because of Conner.
Imo, he showed better than Dobbs. The throw into triple coverage was stupid, but I think that was more by coaches design.

I'm a bit worried about the depth behind Ben this season. Unless Landry improves

LeVeon who?

Lol. Hate to say, but Bell our main guy when he shows.
He'a just an absolute different back. Conner has some speed, I was impressed.
Very reminiscent of Willie's early days. Hits the holes like Sweet titties too(been paying attention on this board)

I'm not worried about the offense. Big guns aren't playing and Dobbs limits what can be done.

James Conner - I get it, he's a great story and a local kid, but I still think they took him too high. I see an average RB. It was a big need though with Bell's uncertain future. Conner will likely be a good committee back for the future but if Bell leaves, I think they may need an upgrade.

Dobbs - same as Conner. Guy might end up being a coach someday like Tee Martin who is now OC at USC and his NFL career will probably be about the same.

Justin Houston - he just doesn't get enough out of his gifts. Case in Point, that long ball to the endzone. Maybe he was interfered with but he could have made a play on that ball. I bet that's a TD with Martavis. Instead he immediately started looking for a flag and didn't really go for the ball.

Coates - good to see him make some catches.

It would be nice to see the defense play better but they were still playing without key pieces. Also, i have a feeling Atlanta was scripted early on. They looked too sharp for preseason to just be calling randiom ****.

Secondary takes time to come together and it's hard to do when they aren't all playing. I'm hoping we have a full starting defense (minus Hargrave) for week 3 and start getting some chemistry going.

LT Walton looked good to me. Alualu was a free agent steal. We have some really good depth with these two.

Forget Dobbs and Houston, I liked what I saw from that kid Simms for Atlanta. If the Falcons only keep Ryan and Shaub, I'd snatch that kid up and cut all our current back-ups.

That's Phil Simms youngest boy. He's 28 and definitely not a kid my NFL standards. Could you imagine Phil Simms around the club house? It's bad enough on Sundays I want to throat punch the dude.

Matt did good though.

I don't think Conner is close to the speed Parker.

Before you get too down on Dobbs let us remember who this shaky performance came against.. A team the arguably should have won the SB, if not for a late meltdown.

I look at his overall performance from camp and both preseason games. Adequate enough to be a NFL backup. I think he has showed that IMO>

For me it is more of a question of if he is starter capable.

But we won't know that with a short body of work.

Also let us never compare him to Slash, even as a poor man's version.

A very bad comparison IMO. Unless Dobbs can play WR. Otherwise he is simply another scrambling QB trying to find his accuracy.

For you Houston likers, I am sorry 5 of 9 for twenty some yards add in a throw in a triple coverage end-zone INT doesn't wet my whistle.

If that doesn't scream simply not good enough, I don't know what does.

Yeah but that's against their second and third stringers too.
