Has L. Bell shown up for camp yet?

Brown is also an elite receiver of all time. His only peers when checking stats are HOFers Harrison and Rice. His numbers are sick and will pale against anyone elses' numbers.

Though looking at their stats, the only stat that Bell beats AB at each year he played, is total yards per game.

Definitely not taking anything from Brown. If anything im bigging up Bell. He is just as good a football player as Brown..

Another point this argument is making, is there is a HUGE income difference between RBs and WRs, and production wise, the compensation is not fair at all. The difference in the positions is, RBs usually come into the league ready to start. Rookies have little trouble acclimating to the game, since they've done nothing but run through holes and take handoffs for the previous 6-8 years. They also have the young mileage in HS and college of being the guy on the team with the most touches.

It's no surprise then, when they hit the league running, their bodies burn out quickly. I think 3-5 years is the average for an NFL RB. This means they usually don't get a second contract worth their touches. So you have a few RBs that are elite for 8 to 10 years, whereas the WR position is much less intense on their bodies. WRs will get 2 or 3 contracts in their career, each one escalating in value. RBs rarely ever see a 3rd contract. This is what boosts the value contracts by position for RBs vs WRs.

I don't think it's fair for the league to chew up and spit out RBs, when they get little in the way of compensation, as a whole. They touch the ball on the team more than any player but the QB, yet are paid one of the lowest salaries by position on offense. I understand the mechanism that makes them paid lower, but vs their productivity, it shouldn't be close and they are being taken advantage of.

And no one is saying Bell isn't good. ...even great....but with his history there has to be some give and take on both sides.....I think the offer that was given was a very fair offer with everything considered. Bell obviously see it differently. In the the end he might just make out better... but I'm thinking it won't be by much. I easily could be wrong and he might sign for his $16 mill per season. I'm thinking it will be more in the range the Steelers offered though.

And you displayed the points im trying to make thank you. Its not right and i can understand Bell's stance.

On the open market with teams bidding against the other he may get close. And i dont think he should be villified for trying. His on field production doesnt warrant it IMO. He's made mistakes sure but i dont think his production and effort on the field can be questioned.

Report: Bell to report to Steelers before regular season starts
Esten McLaren Aug 17, 2017 1:24 PM
Training-camp holdout Le'Veon Bell will report to the Pittsburgh Steelers before the start of the regular season, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter, though there's no exact date for Bell's return to team activities.

The running back has not yet signed his one-year franchise tender, worth a fully guaranteed $12.2 million. As an unsigned player, Bell isn't subject to any team fines for missing camp, but would be fined weekly once the season begins.

Should Bell concede and accept the one-year tender, he'd be the NFL's highest-paid running back on an annual basis. Under the CBA, he can't negotiate a new, long-term deal with the Steelers until after this season.

Well hell....get in camp kid...pronto.

He has two weeks to get here. Just in time to feel some love from his teammates and fans, and get ready for the Stains.

As I said...he just might...but then teams just might not want to pay him almost double of what the market is at the moment....but it only takes one team to do it.

I think Bell will report after Sunday's game, when camp breaks at St Vincent. That would make the most sense to give him a full complement of practices before the 3rd preseason game (which is the only game the starters really play in).

I'm also starting to think that the Steelers should make a non-exclusive Franchise tender next year, if they can't work out a long term contract. This will give Bell the ability to get paid what he thinks he is worth, while giving the Steelers 2 first round draft picks if he leaves. Bell is one of those rare talents that can get signed by another team willing to give up 2 first round pics for him. Those draft picks can then be used to move up and get our next franchise QB. That is the only thing worth more than Bell as a star RB.

We'll see how Colbert plays this one out.

If he's not in camp this coming week, he sits for game 1. He won't be in football shape and he will risk injury and missing significant time once again.

He'll be in football shape, as he very well should have been training on his own with a trainer of some sort. Debo has been working out on his own throughout camp. Both will be ready. Bell's agent is guiding him properly.

How insulting to the young man !!

The Steelers have alot of balls to make his the highest pay RB in the NFL!!

I really wouldn't care if he sits out the whole year!

Bell is not gambling by not signing the long term deal. That supposedly generous contract they offered him would not provide him the safety net of guaranteed money if he were to get hurt. If he stays healthy he knows he's getting paid even more somewhere else. The Steelers are known to cheap out when it comes to guaranteed money. look at Antonio Browns guaranteed money compared to other top wideouts.
Brown 19 milion garunteed
Green 26.75
Bryant 32
jones 35.5
Thomas 35
Brown is better than every one of those WR, look at the disparity in guaranteed money.
Unless Bell was guaranteed big money, he would be foolish to sign. Like with Brown, his contract probably had an insulting amount of guaranteed money.

What is he really risking taking the tag for 1 or 2 years then seeing what he gets in the open market, You can bet the house another team will give him a better contract than the Steelers, especially when it comes to guaranteed money.
Besides the fact that if the Steelers are going to win the superbowl they have a 1 or 2 year window with Ben. Why would he want to stay in Pittsburgh for the rebuilding years?
Bell made the right move.

Amen.
WTF choice does he but to accept the tender? Is going to quit playing football? Perhaps he can use that MSU degree to find a 12 mill a year job where he doesn't have to worry about the CTE.

Yes because he just lucked out to be in the position to do so. He didnt work hard to get there at all.

The difference is the Steelers usually hold onto players they sign long term. You sign on the dotted line chances are you will see every penny. In the end I don't think it was just about the SB...I think the dollar amount was a bit low for Bell also. The guy can ask for what he wants...but has a history of getting hurt or suspended. There has to be a give and take here. Personally I'm glad he didn't sign it. ..not that he isn't great but the fact that so far every year there has been an issue with him....Either suspension, injury or this season drama. Again...he has the right to want whatever amount he asks for bit explain to me how $12 mill is not a fair offer when you have his baggage and the next RB is make just over $8 mill.

Just because it was fair doesnt mean he had to take it. He is an *** for wanting better then fair?

Bell should learn the history of players who leaves the Steelers to chase even more money are lost to obscurity. I know he signed for this year but only because he's still holding out for a few more bucks. Would you rather be a top NFL player making millions or making more money and pretty much just a foot note of "Oh yeah he use to play for the Steelers".

Well since "fair" in this context means what he is worth.....then yeah I guess it kinda does.

He can sign the franchise tag, play out the season and then next year move on to GREENER (pun intended) pastures. He can sign with a team that will pay him way more than "fair", then go 2-14 and see if it was worth the money.

Unless he signs with the patriots or the Giants who desperately need a RB. And fair in this context does not mean what he is worth. That cant be determined until he hits the open market

THIS...................was my line of thinking too. Colbert may surprise us and get a long term deal done next year and I hope it's not giving away the farm to an oft injured RB. The two first round draft picks sound sweet in knowing we need a HIGH end QB very soon.

Wait just a minute........ PITTSBURGH going to be in rebuilding years?? DUDE, we have a loaded team and the ONLY thing is QB maybe retiring. I know there is a drop off to the next average qb WE GET BUT THEN YOU NEVER KNOW as it is a crap shoot mostly. But it would hardly be rebuilding years. I understand the difference between QB & franchise QB but the only rebuilding would be to find a QB that preferably GREAT but we could win with above average too. LOOK at Baltimore a couple years ago.
