He wants to be able to play for more than $12m. He gets hurt in training camp or preseason, he loses that chance. I don't think he needs the practice and his backups do. I'm not disappointed as a fan or pissed off or anything.
 
The issue with the deal for Bell was the lack of guaranteed money after the first year.
 
I'm pretty sure he's not going to sign. ;-)

Boo Hoo. ...the issue with Bell is the tag price was way high. That was the starting price for him.. or most likely basement price. While I think he is the best RB in the game I think what the Steelers offered was high. ....and I also will say I think what they gave AB was to high but it isn't my money so if they want to give Bell $12 mill plus a year who am I to say otherwise. In the end I hope they just tag him next season also and then move on.
 
We offered him 12+ million per year. Now we have another top RB getting around 8-8.5 million per. That has to bring his unrealistic numbers down a bit. Sure, he wanted all the money guaranteed but that ain't happening. Freeman is 25 and Atlanta can pretty much get out of the contract in year 3, if he falls off for some reason. Bell is looking at the same thing, especially with his suspension and injury history. He should have taken the deal. Any smart person would tell a RB in this day and age to take the deal Bell was offered.
 
Dont see the need to argue about someone else's money whether its the Rooneys giving or Bell receiving. Its a business. And with the new CTE findings i will never ***** about a player seeking as much guaranteed money as he can.

And I agree...but I sure hope the Steelers dont up their offer next season even if Bell has a monster season. What hurt the negotiations was the tag price. It is what it is.. and next off season Bell will want $14 mill plus minimum a year. And why not? That is what the tag will be. So I hope we use another tag and then let someone else sign him long term the following season.

he never said Freeman was going to set the market ...he said he was...don't think that deal means anything to Bell

If BELL makes it this full season I'll be a little surprised. If he MAKES this full seaso9n and NEXT full season,.......I'll eat my crow medium well. It just isn't going to happen. If he doesn't sign and sits this year out guess what,.... The STEELERS will still have two years tag rights to him. He will show at the last minute and play. If he plays gingerly he will get hurt both physically and financially because his production will be down. The STEELERS are doing the right thing with this particular running back and his SUSPENTION / INJURY issues. He or his agent messed up in two ways,......thinking they can get more money $$$$$ A-N-D also thinking Bell is a "rap" star.
