Bryant's upside in 2017?

Yep. ..Jug machine vs in game action with defenders draped on him. Should be exactly the same thing. ..right?

to be fair working hard on those jugs should help with his grip.......which could help him hang onto a few of those he might normally drop

I'm all for it if he lived with a juggs machine last year. I'm hoping his habits of pancaking balls is gone. Sky is the limit for this kid, if that is the case.

The hand timed 4.27 forty is just that............. But........ Hopping vertically 5ft, NOW that ain't no lie. Hard to exaggerate that feat. He seems to be working ******* real hard and I for one am happy with that. ALL the catches, over and over, weather from a jugs machine or human thrown will help, no matter what. I'll take this Martavious over the previous one..!!!!!!!

The guy is ******* working. That's all that matters. And not smoking dope. He's been a great asset with top notch ability when he's not suspended.

I hope he is a beast but until he shows it day in and day out for the whole season .....kind of funny is call him an asset when NOT suspended. One could say he hasn't been an asset because of his suspensions. And we all heard how great he was doing one other time after his four game suspension...and guess what? He got another failed one and was suspended for a season. So until he proves himself on and off the field for at least a season I will take a wait and see approach.

If we are talking upside, Bryant is now at 230 pounds. He ran a hand timed 4.27, and jumped 60" with an 8 pound vest on.

Where were the drops. He doesn't get many easy catches. The counterpoint is he catches passes that no one else on the team would be able to make due to his size, and speed.

I see nothing wrong with Bryant's hands.
It's his hand placement. It's something I watch every game. When you don't have both palms facing the football on a catch, you have bad hand placement and will drop balls. Thus Bryant's drop numbers.

Upside is one thing....thinking he might do something that only 2 WR's have ever done in the history of the NFL (80 catches 1600 yards 15 TD's ) is another thing. Only Rice and Moss have ever accomplished that stat line. Now you think it is possible Bryant can do it after having a year off from football. Really?

now he wants to talk with Ben

If I was Ben I would say, "hey might not have been the best approach.

But the level of frustration I had was hard to hide.

You let this team down, as I think with you that extra step could have been taken to reach the ultimate prize.

Who knows, we weren't given that opportunity.

Maybe we will be given it this year"

Martavis Bryant wants talk with Ben Roethlisberger over critical remarks

HENDERSON, Nev. -- When the Pittsburgh Steelers report to training camp in a couple of weeks, wide receiver Martavis Bryant would like to have a talk with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

"I feel like we need to," Bryant told ESPN on Thursday during a break from his offseason workouts here in the 109-degree Nevada desert heat. "We should have a man-to-man. Because some of the things he put out there about me, I kind of didn't agree with how he did it. So I want to sit down and hear his own opinion, man-to-man, about why he did that."

Bryant is the mercurial, high-ceiling Steelers wide receiver who was suspended four games in 2015 and the entire 2016 season for violations of the league's substance abuse policy. When Bryant got suspended last year, Roethlisberger was highly critical of him, telling the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that Bryant had lied to him and that the team felt "let down" by the talented wideout.

"I mean, at that time, I was going through a lot of stuff. I wasn't really even worried about his opinion at that time, because there was just a lot that was going on," Bryant said Thursday. "He's my brother. I love him. But at the same time, I have my own family outside of football. I have my own problems. I'm not just going to come up to you and open up to you about what's going on with my personal life. That's not how I am. We just didn't see eye-to-eye on that, but as far as right now, everything's great."

Bryant was conditionally reinstated by the league in April, says he's been clean for more than a year and expects no further hiccups on his planned return to the NFL for 2017. He says he's training harder than he ever did before in the offseason. But he does think there are some things that he and his quarterback need to say to each other before the season starts.

"We haven't had that sit-down talk yet," Bryant said. "Hopefully we'll have it before the season starts. If not, that's fine. I'm still going to go out and perform and do what I have to do to be the best teammate I can be."

Roethlisberger said earlier this summer that Bryant had to "win back everybody's trust," and that he hoped Bryant would come talk to him. Bryant was asked how he expected that talk to go.

"It doesn't really matter," Bryant said. "Man-to-man talk. You put it out there, man-to-man, explain to me what you mean."

I know for a fact a couple of them were slants. One may have been on a curl. Not all of them were on deep patterns if you were insinuating that.

Bryant definitely had some easy drops to go along with his great catches. You didn't know if he was going to catch the ball or drop it. Seems many on here forgot about that. He came out of college with questionable hands.

I'm guessing 65-1100-11TD. Maybe a pro bowl trip off that.

Honestly I tend to agree with Bryant on the Ben thing. Ben tries to be a leader and at times does well with it and other times not so much. When Ben was in the **** Im thinking he wouldnt have appreciated a team mate expressing their disappointments in him publically. That didnt sit well with me when Ben said it. If Bryant had been released so be it. Let it fly. But you knew there was a 50 50 chance you would have to work together. So you simply say. Its very dissapointing Martavis wont be with us but he needs to help himself. If you want to say **** in house. So be it.

I don't know. I thought at first he wanted to talk to Ben to apologize for letting the team down last season...but after reading the article above he wants it for Ben to explain himself.......to me Bryant feels he was wronged....kind of weird actually.

I think Bryant does owe THE TEAM an appology. In much the same way that Ben owed and gave one to the team after the Georgia incident. However, these things are done in house and Ben calling out Bryant publically was inappropriately handled and less than stellar leadership in my opinion.

Maybe because Ben embellished somethings to the media. Its not like he isnt known to do this from time to time. Not saying thats what happen for sure

Another way to look at it

I personally think the cat should STFU and just deal with anything he didn't care for. We had a whole ******* year of not caring for his suspension and had to deal with the results.

And a lot more important than anything I think, the team had to deal with the loss. Which was a significant one.

That is my way of looking at it

So what if Ben embellished it a bit or not. Bryant let the organization down after everyone stood behind him after he got popped for 4 games. Ben gave him his personal phone number and talked to him daily when Bryant was in his rehab stint if I remember correctly. I wish Ben would have been harsher with his criticism to be honest....and to be honest we don't know if he will stay clean for this upcoming season and the one after. So Bryant can do all this talking about how he is clean and all just like last time when he came back but until he earns the trust of the organization again I don't think anybody owes him anything.

Ben didn't say anything out of line. Did he need to say it publicly? Maybe not, but he didn't throw Bryant under the bus either.

Wrong or not Bryant has a right to say something if he thought Ben was out of place. They are both men.. its not like Ben himself was the poster boy of maturity.
