ESPN cancels 'Mike & Mike'

I used to enjoy this program but have not watched/listened to it in years. It grew very stale and the hosts grew very annoying. Good riddance.

ESPN has canceled the radio show "Mike & Mike" after 17 years.

The network announced Tuesday that Mike Greenberg would be leaving the longtime morning radio show he co-hosts with Mike Golic to host a new morning TV show on ESPN TV that will premier Jan. 1. Golic will stay in the morning radio spot and will be joined by a new partner in the network's NFL host Trey Wingo. The radio show will be simulcast on television.

Greenberg and Golic have been teamed since 2000. The show will end later this year.

Greenberg says his "run with Golic has been an incredible experience," but he's looking forward to a new challenge.

The network also says Golic and Wingo have multiyear extensions to stay with ESPN.
 
Eh, it was a good run. Never liked the program but I know one of the producers. He's vacationed down here for years. Nice guy....but this thing has run its course.

It was 10 years too late. Greenberg is a dick. I've met him at a remote he did in Philly, when my wife was a huge fan of his. Only 8 people showed up (2 were paid promoters), and Greenberg didn't say one word to anyone. Golic was nothing but gracious to everyone in the room. He's a people person, and it comes across well on radio.

Their forced schtick of the smart guy vs the dumb jock was stupid and played out, and just wasn't genuine or funny. Greenberg is a coward and a wimp with no real opinions of his own. The Jets suck and he deserves them.

Trey Wingo has personality, is likable, and has opinions. I will actually listen to him. The show is instantly better with him on board.
 
Mike and MIke haven't really been together in a long time. Most times i've listened over teh past year, there have been guest hosts or either Golic or Greeny were not there.

Sounds like they are going to do a something similar to what Van Pelt does at midnight with Greeny in the morning. It will be part sportscenter and part morning show.
 
Greenie is an idiot. He thought watermelons grew on trees. Even if it was supposed to be some sort of shtick, he was stupid to go along with it because it made him look stupid. Most girlie guy to ever host a sports show. If he isn't suckin on Brady's left nut, it's Tiger Woods' or ******' Lebron's. He started this crap about how the GS Warriors and the Cavs are ruining basketball because they have been in the championships the last couple years and will be this year, but no mention of how Geno A. and UConn win the damn thing almost every year. The Patriots can do no wrong and never have. He knows one football team - the damn Jets. Good riddance - hope they let him go forever. Golic - I can take. Hope they find a spot for him.

Greenie came across as arrogant. Him being an opportunist reared its ugly head at least once when he exploited a staffer to gain immediate advantage . Could him being Jewish have something to do with that lol?

I recall one show when a staffer offered to stop and get (buy?) sandwiches from a certain eatery for Mike and Mike when she happened to be out and about. Greenie then had the gall to request the staffer to get them between a certain 15 min time frame (from what I recall), because that's the time when they tasted best.

Golic was all over Greenburg for that. "She didn't have to offer to do that...she was running errands, and out of the kindness of her heart she offered to pick up sandwiches, and you have the nerve to ask her to make sure she gets them between 12:00 and 12:15 because that's when they tasted best"???
...I'm paraphrasing Golic of course.

I always liked Mike and Mike, though I can see where it's run it's course. It was MUCH better than the alternative on XM radio in the morning "Morning Men" which SUCKS ***!! Not thrilled about Wingo, he always seemed like a douche to me. He's barely a step better than Rich Eisen.

Seriously, how does Morning Men stay on the air? Are listeners really that stupid? I've tried giving it a fair shake, but it's horrible. Evan is an arrogant *******, and Babcheck is borderline mentally retarded dumbass who screams a lot. 90% of what they talk about isn't even sports related, and when it is, it's Evan either sucking off the Patriots or whining about Lebron.

79 wasn't so good to espn as the STEELERS decline an exclusive post lowB repuS interview with them. I think we felt we were well enough known as the CHAMPIONS at that time.............. **** espn

Only ever watched or listened to this when I was in a room that had it on somewhere that wasn't my house. ESPN needs to get back to SPORTS programming and away from talking heads.

They were not even on my local ESPN affiliate after 7:00 am
 
Those two have not had a good programs in years. ESPN should cancel every talk show they have, they are all way over rated. I can't tell you the last time I watched 20 seconds of any of their shows during the day. If it wasn't for some college games I would forget what number their channel is.
