With the combine issues (spazzing out at a trainer) and now announced failed drug test (found a diuretic or masking agent), it's possible he falls down some draft boards. If he was there at 30 do you think we'd pass as well?

I think many of the fanbase would take him, but would the front office chance it after the drug and off-the-field issues we've encountered as a franchise?
 
He is a top 10 talent...I doubt he will be there, but I could see us taking him.
 
Agreed, it's probably a moot point but one just for discussion. Don't think it's as severe as the Randy Gregory story but again he was a guy many thought was a top 10 talent who dropped.
 
It wasn't a diuretic, it was diluted. He stated he had a stomach bug and was trying to eat and drink as much as possible to maintain weight for the combine. It would depend on if he has a history of failed tests, like Tim Williams does.

I am more concerned if they have multiple failed tests.
 
I read that he didn't fail drug tests at Alabama, thus he is clean. I bet someone takes him in the teens.

Ok, so let me ask this broader question. Do we take any player with off field concerns or failed test? Considering Bryant and Bell are red flags too much for us to ignore as a franchise presently?
 
He won't be there at 1.30 Yes I'd take him if there.

Look, we all know he is probably bag of cats level crazy BUT he is the seek and destroy LB we need in the middle. I'm willing to live with the volatile temperament and attitude to get the talent on the field.
 
To be honest...I think we could surprise everyone and take Tim Williams in the 1st, but I hope if we take him its in rd 2 .

The Ringer's Michael Lombardi believes Alabama LB Reuben Foster "will be there" at the top of Round 2.

"Teams picking between 33-45 will need to make sure they are comfortable with R. Foster, cause he will be there," Lombardi tweeted on Friday. This report flies in the face of what Rotoworld's Josh Norris has been hearing. Norris reported earlier on Friday that Foster is still receiving "plenty" of Round 1 interest despite Foster's failed drug test -- due to a diluted sample -- at the NFL Combine. Foster has had one of the worst Draft processes of any prospect in this year's class.

I think you have to take this on a case by case basis. I am sure the Steelers will talk to those people around him, find out if he had any other incidents, if there were other tests, if he hangs around with the wrong guys. Then, you weigh the risk versus reward. Two drafts ago, the Steelers brought in Randy Gregory and Justin Cox for visits. Gregory had failed a combine drug test and had other failed tests. The Steelers passed on him twice before he was drafted by Dallas. Justin Cox had a domestic violence charge that was dropped and vehemently stated his innocence over and over. The Steelers passed on him 7 times and did not even pursue him as an UDFA. He has since had 2 charges of domestic violence and was just banned from the CFL due to his last one.

So, while the Steelers might bring these guys in for visits, if the background checks come up bad or they get a bad feeling during the visit, they won't draft the guy. As in the case with Cox, it appears even though they brought him in, he ended up as a DND guy.
 
I'd be estatic if we landed Foster. If the Steelers think he's not going to be a problem then I think they'll take him. Hard to pass up that talent at the bottom of the first.
 
Not like the Steelers haven't dealt with drugged up players
