Directly or indirectly. On purpose or not. By him signaling that he doesn't expect to play much longer he is saying that the Steelers should start looking for the next QB. No drama or stupid questions. Take their time though. I hope they don't draft just because. Find the right guy. And PS glad he is back next year.

I wouldn't say necessarily no drama. He has the possibility of Brett Favre indecision year after year until he ultimately retires.

Not sure if this is the draft to find his replacement. That time will show itself. Perhaps with a better QB class.

He fired the opening shot. He can't ***** whenever they take a qb. At a point when the team believes that qb needs to play he will either retire or be released. And I agree this is not the season to take a guy. And experience tells me things come in waves. If this class is weak next year's will be much stronger.

I really don't think Ben would ***** if they draft a QB. Why would he. I really think this was more about the other players getting in line with the team first concept. We will see how AB is this season. We will see if Bryant is able to come back and produce like he did before. And more importantly if he can just stay clean. We will see if Bell can actually start a season in week 1. Can't remember when that actually happened. And I think it was a shot to all the coaches. You can not go into the affcg with that defensive game plan and not be able to make adjustments. Our coaches didn't give us a chance to win that game. And it wasn't fair to the players, owners and also us fans. So the Steelers could move up and draft the highest rated qb in the draft and I don't think Ben would lose any sleep over it. Why would he.

I still am under the opinion that Kizer will be the best of the bunch this draft...

not advocating that we draft him...just my opinion..

Ben has been up front with his frustration of how this team has responded, he still gets bashed even under the name of Steeler nation which should thank their lucky stars we have had Ben as QB. How soon you forget the days after Bradshaw just how bad the QB's were. Look at last year Ben talked to Bell and Brown and Bryant abut their actions and they still all acted as kids in a candy store. Ben as given his all to the Steelers and I doubt he could care less if Tomlin is smart enough to see the light and start looking for a QB. The larger question is if this head coach can see type of QB the Steelers need. All we hear is drama queen , please you sound like all the comments on Pro football talk, when it comes to Ben. Ben doesn't even come close to the BS of Favre.

It was a shot to the rest of the team that they better buy into the team first concept if they want to win, because the window is only open a little bit right now. Unless we luck out, there will probably be a few rough seasons when he retires, especially for Brown and the offense.

I think he will play two but not three. He is a high milage guy no question. Almost Steve McNair. It has been much better the last two no question. I agree this is part message to team and coaching staff to get their **** together but he is definitely in the twighlight here and the team must plan accordingly

Watson in the 2nd or Kaaya with the late 3rd or 4th.
It all depends who is the BPA at 29 as to who is left, if McKinley is there, Reddick, or then decide between Harris or Cunningham who I think will be a great all around OLB, may not get you 6 sacks but if moved around possible could, or roll the dice on the most versatile player who you could line up about anywhere ALA Troy in Peppers you could put him at ROLB, MLB CB, S, RB, PR/KR.
2 there are a few CB's I want as I see them as a locks as long term starters but in such a deep CB draft, I wouldn't mind rolling the dice with Watson, let him hold the clip board and learn the pro style scheme and in 2018 compete vs Laundry.

As of this coming season Ben will have played as long as Bradshaw, and Bradshaw only played about 10 minutes in his final season before he went on IR.

I also think he's done in two years. They better get somebody this draft and next.

How's that Davis Webb kid? I like Mahomes but he won't be there at 30.

Hey Ron, can you rip some Yazz Flute for me? I'm feeling down with all this Ben retirement talk

When all is said and done. Ben will go out a Steeler. He has a couple seasons left in him. They'll find his replacement when that time comes. If they win #7, I'm ok with a couple mediocre seasons after, as long as the team rebuilds the next core group/generation of players.

A quarterback in the first or second round isn't going to help the Steelers win a Super Bowl this year. No really interested in taking one that early, especially in this weak QB draft class.

I'm hoping and praying that the top 4 QBs are gone and off the board when we pick at 30. A backup QB riding the bench will not help us this year or next. Like I've said before, load up while we have Ben and get another Super Bowl or two. When Ben is gone, we will only be stronger in other areas due to the draft picks we make now.

I don't think an attempt should be made to replace Ben until after he files his retirement papers. All resources at this point should be focused on winning the next Lombardi with Big Ben as the QB. Why waste a pick at this point on a QB? I'm fine with going through a 5-11 season with Landry Jones the year after Ben retires. That will then put the Steelers in position to have a top 5 pick to try and hit on the next franchise QB. It's not like they grow on trees, but when they do come around they are usually top 10 picks in the draft. If a pick is wasted on a QB now, it may not even pan out. Once Ben retires, then the team can afford to invest multiple draft picks on QBs in order to get the right one.

I agree but IMO by them not grabbing a top of the line CB in free agency, or at least trying tells me otherwise

This. If you want to help the team now, you sign free agents. You don't rely on rookies to improve the team immediately. The Steelers could draft the next Troy Polamalu and he could have a rookie season like, well... Troy Polamalu.

I have no problem with drafting a QB in the first round. Not sure why people are calling it a weak class just because there aren't any Top 5 QBs. Several of the top QBs in NFL history were drafted well after top of the draft.

I agree with Trog in this case.

Also, no one is saying that these QB's are bad. They're saying that they simply need time to develop. This is bad for a team like the Browns/49er's, who need a QB ASAP, but it could be favorable for a team like ours.
