Just for ***** and giggles, this is how I think the Steelers would draft this "mock":
1. Takk McKinley, OLB
I have been saying this for a few weeks, but I think they like him a lot. I think his film is similar to Jarvis Jones without the issues they think are why Jones failed. The surgery and being out for a while almost makes it certain he is there when they pick and the Steelers love having the card ready.
2. Josh Jones, S
Again, when I see a player that matches a player already on the Steelers roster I pay attention and Jones is very similar to Mike Mitchell.
3a. Brad Kaaya, QB
I have a gut feeling the Steelers are going to force QB with one of our 3rd round picks no matter what. They are going to argue the pick as "extra" and spout a lot of P.R. about how they love Mr. X (whoever that is). In this draft, that ends up being Kaaya.
3b. Kendall Beckwith, ILB
The Steelers get their thumper in the middle to push Vince Williams and maybe eventually replace him down the line full time. Once again, the film says he looks like the old version of Lawrence Timmons so the Steelers are probably going to like him.
4. Damontae Kazee, CB
I agree with the mock and think the Steelers will once again stick with what they like to scout. Kazee will really push for time as a slot corner in year one.
5. Kareem Hunt, RB
After a big run of Running Backs in this draft the Steelers kind of force the issue and get a guy. I think of all those left Hunt will appeal to them the most so I'm picking him here.
6. Zach Banner, OT
We haven't talked about it much but there is a pretty big hole left on the roster when Ryan Harris retired. Yes, we picked Hawkins last year in round 4 but are we really going into the season as him the swing backup? Banner looks just like another long-term Steeler that Tombert gave 2nd, 3rd and 4th chances: Max Starks.
7. Cole Hikutini, TE
I'm not really sure about this. Everyone is pushing TE's but we have James, Green, Gimble & Johnson under contract. That's a fairly solid group when healthy. I'll throw this in here because in a deep TE class you might get a lot luckier and find a much better player than someone like Blanchflower.
This is just like a Steelers draft. A bit there to make you excited but also some head scratchers and maybe "forcing" positions. Plenty to debate and argue about
