7 round mock the mock

I'll update mine as I go

1 DE Takkarist McKinley, UCLA (Watt went one earlier sigh)- I think they will go pass rusher in 1
2 CB Adoree' Jackson, USC - I think this guy goes before our second, maybe even round 1
3 LB Tyus Bowser, Houston - I think he goes round two, toward the top
3b RB D'Onta Foreman, Texas - Almost went TE here.
4 CB Corn Elder, Miami. Two CBs help shore up a weakness.
5 QB Jerod Evans, Virginia Tech- One year wonder? A 5th isn't a lot to give up to see if something is there.
6 RB Donnel Pumphrey, San Diego State - I think we need two RBs as the depth is weak.
7 ILB Ben Boulware, Clemson

I'm not knowledgeable enough to actually do one of these, but will read continuously. Thank you

Salute the nation

I like McKinley but taking him is liking pushing this years first rounder into 2018. He won't play at all this year if he's out 4 to 6 months with his surgery. He must be practicing in camp to sniff the field in 2017.

hard to disagree with your picks, just to make it different:

3B TE Jake Butt
4 WR ArDarius Stewart
5 RB Kareem Hunt
6 David Jones S

A very realistic mock draft, which means I hate the way the board falls! I wish I could trade down if this happens in round one. But if forced to pick:

1 ) OLB McKinley - A pass rusher with a nice first step
2 ) CB Jackson - Could play the slot or outside
3 ) ILB Walker - Very productive, great value pick.
3B ) TE Butt - Would grade higher if he wasn't injured
4 ) CB Lewis - Talented but troubled Worth a gamble here
5 ) RB Hood - Depth at RB is needed
6 ) S Travis - Depth a S is needed.
7 ) BPA - I'd go work a workout wonder with upside.

Yeah thought about Butt and Hunt.

Hunt was the RB who stuck out at the Senior-bowl right?

And Butt to me his production didn't scream matchup problem. And with picking someone coming surgery in 1, it made me hesitate just enough.

Going out on a limb a bit, but what about this:

Malik McDowell, DE
Derek Rivers, OLB
Sidney Jones, CB
Chad Hansen, WR
Jordan Lewis, CB
Kareem Hunt, RB
Blake Jarwin, TE
Round 7 - ???

1) CB Obi Melifonwu
2) OLB Derek Rivers
3a) OLB Tyus Bowser
3b) TE Jake Butt
4) DE Davon Godchaux. Or 4) QB Chad Kelly
5) S Josh Harvey-Clemons.
6) WR Jehu Chesson
7) NT DJ Jones

add a free agent RB behind Bell (Crowell if still available), had to double dip on pass rush and get a man corner.
I'd rather trade back out of the seventh to regain our 6th next year, if the mock Gods will allow it.

I made a thread for mocks...weeks ago...

Yes......and it is where mocks go to die.

We need more board interactions not less, new headlines spark interest and create more traffic. More traffic means more debate. Debate is the lifeblood of the internet message board.

1 Harris DE/OLB
2 Jackson CB (some hype of him maybe going late first. Seems unlikely he here at late 2[SUP]nd[/SUP])
3a Bowser LB
3b Butt TE
4 Elder CB
5 Jones RB
6 Don’t much care
7 Don’t much care

RD1- DE/OLB Takkarist McKinley, UCLA
Hard to argue this pick. Need and value are both there. Takk reminds me a bit of Bud Dupree where is he's a freakish athlete with a good motor but not the production you might want. Takk did have his best year by far last season so the arrow is pointing up for the 6-2 250lbs edge man with freakishly long arms. I feel having Takk spell and rotate in with Harrison would be beneficial to both in keeping Harrison fresh and not putting too much on Takk year one.

RD2- Marcus Williams S Utah
I feel Mitchell has lost a step and even though he is a good defender when it comes to laying that big hit he is a liability in coverage. He blew a few big plays last year including the AFC championship game. I think Sean Davis would be a stud SS and then put Williams at free safety as a ballhawk high safety. Williams has 10 picks over the last two years and can definitely cover. He is a good tackler but not a lay the guy out tackler. More of a wrap up and take down.

RD3a- Sidney Jones CB Washington
A top 15 and maybe top 10 pick this late... I know we want a guy to play now but anyone we draft likely won't beat out Burns, Cockrell or Sensabaugh as those guys are either an upcoming super star or two veterans. And we still ( I know I know if he can stay healthy ) have Golson on the roster. Jones would likely allow the Steelers to let Cockrell test free agency next year without having to over pay him. It would literally be like taking a 2017 3rd round pick and turning it into a 2018 1st round pick with a year worth of playbook knowledge under his belt.

RD3b- Jordan Leggett TE Clemson
Leggett has been a very good TE for Clemson the past several years. He can block, get open, and doesn't drop passes. Not a flashy guy but he gets the job done and is reliable.

RD4- Damonte Kazee CB San Diego St
Kazee had 15 picks the last two seasons and it is hard to argue with that production. I feel as a nickel or at the very least dime back he could really excel in the NFL. He is a very good zone defender understanding assignments and being able to read and react to a play. This is my insurance if Golson gets hurt again to have that nickel guy for the future.

RD5- Jerod Evans QB Virginia Tech
Evans had a very good single season in division I and likely should have stayed another season at VT but for a future developmental prospect and maybe a replacement for Roethlisberger he fits the bill. To me Evans could be that Cam Newton type QB who is a dual threat.

RD6- Tarik Cohen RB North Carolina A&T
Lets try that scat back experiment again. We have Toussaint and Davis now to backup Bell but Cohen is like a human joystick and with his speed and ability to make people miss and his speed to take it to the house. I feel as a complimentary back he could be very valuable.

RD7- Jordan Evans ILB Oklahoma
Evans had a very nice year for Oklahoma and having nearly 100 tackles with 10 for loss and 4 picks with 2 TD's I feel his coverage ability would work well with Vince Williams run play ability.

RE Sidney Jones: If we are trying to compete during this window Ben has, drafting Jones is not going to help us right away. It would be a great luxury pick if he's there at pick 3B and we've got our OLB/DB ahead of Jones but I think we have needs we have to look at for this year. This whole not playing rookies for years fell by the way side last season and it worked for us. Hopefully we can draft the same caliber of players and they can contribute immediately.

I'd suggest that both are very much the exception. The don't care is more like "by this point, the rankings of the players are so close, there is no way I'd have enough information to distinguish".

1. Kevin King, CB
2. Jordan Willis, DE/OLB
3. Tyus Bowser, LB
4. D'Onta Foreman, RB
5. Jeremy Sprinkle, TE
6. Jerod Evans, QB
7. Jehu Chesson, WR
8. Keion Adams, LB

I don't think we draft any CB in round 3 and have them contribute immediately. Burns and Cockrell will start and that is regardless if we took a CB in round one let alone round three. I know Cockrell gets a bad rap but he's a capable #2 CB. Yes, we need to improve the position but if he had a better pass rush in front of him I feel he would benefit. Also, after the AFC Championship game where our safeties let a La Crosse player wide open in the end zone TWICE I feel that is a bigger need than CB right now. Also, I did double dip taking Kazee in the 4th round and feel he could help or at least push for playing time in the nickel and dime. I feel Jones is more of an outside CB and even if healthy would find it hard to beat out Cockrell his first year.

Depends. It would not surprise me and as my mock the mock went both CB's were too good of value to pass up and it gives us options on Cockrell and Gay and insurance for Golson and Sensabaugh.

I'd normally agree with you, but if you can add one of the top talents in the draft in the third round, it's more than worth the risk. I wouldn't even wait for the comp. pick if Jones is sitting there for the Steelers in the third.

Yeah taking a risk with a comp pick, why not. Yinz weren't expecting it. I have no problems with them doing whatever with that pick.
