Exactly one year after drug ban, Martavis Bryant awaits reinstatement

Martavis Bryant is now eligible to return from his one-year suspension, but the league office has yet to reinstate him.

Bryant applied for reinstatement on January 28, and the league has 60 days from that point to render a decision, meaning Bryant should know his future by the end of March at the latest. Bryant still has not met with Roger Goodell -- a requirement prior to reinstatement -- however, so it is likely the NFL plans to use most if not all of those 60 days. All accounts suggest Bryant has done what he needs to do to get back in the league, but his availability cannot be taken for granted until he is officially reinstated.

Bryant's suspension pushed his rookie contract one year back, through the end of the 2018 season. If he is reinstated, he'll make $690,000 in 2017. The contract is not an issue unless he puts up a big year in 2017 -- if he does, the Steelers would have to decide whether to give him a big extension given his suspension history.

By most accounts, Bryant has been in a good place mentally and chemically. That should be enough for reinstatement. After that, it's up to him. There's little doubt Bryant could come back in the spring, perform well in offseason workouts and training camp, and earn his spot back.

Keep holding your breath a little while longer

Hope the Steelers find out for sure before the draft.

and another year of us jerking it to wet dreams of big gains with Ben, Brown, Bell and Bryant.

you are describing reality there

Jerking wads dreaming of the return of Blizburgh is the true blue-balled fantasy

Read the articles. It says Goddell typically takes the 60 days he is allotted to make a decision. That would be later in March. And, it says they will probably call Bryant on the spur of the moment. He could get a call one day and have the meeting the next. Goddell has 2 more weeks to make a move.

Over under at 10 games Bryant plays this year.

I have Bell at 12.

Ben at 14.

I'm pulling for him because he can really help the team. Pissing away your greatest gifts over petty mind altering bs is weak and selfish. That's his choice and life.

We will never be the Rams that one single season all offense and **** defense got it done. Bryant can help us score more points. The team still needs to play better defense than last year to have a shot at no.7

I'm pulling for him as well, not just as a Steelers fan but as a human being. These guys have limited windows to make this kind of living so just hoping he gets his life on track enough to be able to set himself up for a nice life after football someday.

Stop drinking Haterade. We need Marty back on the field - STAT!!!

That will be VERY good news and from the accounting of the articles I've read, he's been clean. We've heard that before but let's give him the benefit and assume he is clean. The continuous piss test will keep him worried and hopefully passing the test(s). He will be a HUGE legitamite #2 WR upgrade as opposed to last year's various #2s. My hope to his 19 scoring and winning games this up coming season.

Salute the nation
