The Trump Effect in action

The number of people illegally crossing the U.S. southern border has dropped 40 percent in President Trump’s first full month in office, Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly said Wednesday. U.S. Customs and Border Patrol reported that the number of illegal border crossings dropped from 31,578 to 18,762 persons. Kelly said border agents usually see a 10 to 20 percent increase in illegal immigrant apprehensions from January to February.

“The drop in apprehensions shows a marked change in trends,” Kelly said. “Since the administration’s implementation of executive orders to enforce immigration laws, apprehensions and inadmissible activity is trending toward the lowest monthly total in at least the last five years.”

It's amazing what happens when you have the border patrol patrolling the border instead of manning check points thirty miles away.

And a President who has the border patrol, I don't know, DEPORT illegals rather than let them go and give them a "court date" six months later, trusting that the illegal will appear for the hearing??

Yep I imagine that's got a lot to do with it as well.

Trump administration sends judges to immigration detention centers

The Department of Justice is deploying 50 judges to immigration detention facilities across the United States, according to two sources and a letter seen by Reuters and sent to judges on Thursday.

The department is also considering asking judges to sit from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., split between two rotating shifts, to adjudicate more cases, the sources said. A notice about shift times was not included in the letter

The order called for the end of a policy known as "catch and release," by which immigrants were released from detention and given a date to appear in court. Immigration courts have a backlog of over 550,000 cases, according to the Justice Department's data, so many court dates are set years into the future.

We need to improve upon that 40%.

I'll start to take this seriously in 2018.

My internship is almost up and today the maintenance guy at the funeral home is asking me if I'm applying for other jobs. He says maybe I could just do removals (picking up bodies) until something else comes along. I said, "No, that's something any Mexican can do." He about hit the floor laughing.

Jorge Ramos Says The ‘Trump Effect’ Is Scaring Away Illegal Aliens

Univision anchor Jorge Ramos believes he has found the explanation for the recent drop in illegal border crossings reported by immigration officials: fear or what he calls the “Trump effect.” In an interview with Anderson Cooper on CNN Thursday night, Ramos laid out his theory in detail.

“Jorge, the massive drop in border apprehensions last month, the customs border protections says 40 percent, it’s down 40 percent, people trying to cross illegally. What do you make of that?” Cooper asked. “Is it possible that the tough talk on illegal immigration by Trump is working, that he deserves credit for that drop?”

“Let me just say that fear is stronger than any wall,” Ramos responded. “What we are seeing right now is the ‘Trump effect.’ ” He continued:

These people calling their relatives and their friends, saying, “don’t come here, this is not the right moment.” So I think it is possible.

Looks like we wont need the services of the Amazing Racist anymore.

Here he captures a Mexican and delivers him to the Border Patrol,

This is a problem because about a third of Mexicos GNP is money sent home to Mexicans living in the USA.

No wonder Mexico is so pissed. We will be screwing up their illegal cash flow. Tax the hell out of wired money from the US to Mexico.

Love the ending.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Really? Still getting our info from Rush I see....

Mexico exports about 316 billion dollars in products to the U.S.

Money sent from U.S. by immigrants to Mexico about 23 billion.......maybe you can get Rush to tutor you in math, when he's not high on pills of course.

There's something not right there. Mexicos GDP is over 1 Trillion, so the GNP is even higher....and don't listen to Elfie, he's babbling something about exports.

GDP is the $ amount of all goods and services a country produces in a year. GNP is GDP plus the services a countrys citizens produce when working in other countries.

A map of how much immigrants are sending to their respective home countries.
And kudos to Elfie for being right about something ...Mexicans send back $23 billion.

I knew it was something between 20-26 billion dollars sent to Mexico. I have read somewhere that it's about a third of the Mexican Economy. $23 Billion is a huge hit to them regardless.

Mexico is ****** up.
Now one of the largest economies in the world, it still has 43% of the population living below the poverty line....so yeah, that $23 Billion is huge.

Fix your own problems Mexico, don't send them here.

The government of Mexico should be ******* embarrassed that so many of their citizens want to leave.
