Is the SB Fixed?

The other huge turning point/call in retrospect was after the failed short kick. Atlanta was in prime position to finish it. They got a 9 yard crossed on first down and proceeded to get a hold on a short yardage run (very rare) followed by a sack. Those three points look big too.

I've never seen a defensive holding called on three consecutive third downs. That was unreal.
I've seen the Steeler secondary do some stupid **** repeatedly in critical situations. Those were all holds.

you are right they are all holds. when are they ever called with that frequency? their is probably holding on pretty much every play. seldom called

Perhaps but lets be honest. Guys are grabbing guys all over the field on every second play. Pretty hard to believe you called three in a row and ****** Julio Jones never got held once in the game. They also missed a bad face mask too.

They were, rarely do they get called like that. In fact, some teams take this approach knowing the officials won't call it on every play.

all those toe-taps and end of game interceptions..... people still have to catch the ball.

BUT, that holding penalty that put the falcons out of FG range (after the sack). Shouldn't the missed facemask penalty offset that one?

The officiating wasn't too bad the 1st half. However after the lead went to 25, it became incredibly one sided.

For those who don't think there is a "fix" in then the sand over the head must be ther new in. There is way too much $$$$$$$ to leave to random wins. Not every game of the season is fix but just enough are to MAKE MONEY and leave enough controversy to not question the out comes. The GREAT officiating is there for a reason..................... GREED is showing and out come questioning is becoming a way more commonality. "BIG MONEY" is shrinking along with the ratings and WWE affect. Pretty Simple if looked at with an open eye.

If you're referring to the facemask on the falcons last drive, Sanu was just as guilty of it as the pats* player was. Sanu ripped his helmet off his head. They were both guilty of it, and the refs kept the flags away on that particular instance.

They may not get called on every play, but a penalty is a penalty. None of those calls were questionable. Atlanta, nor anyone for that matter, can ***** about officiating when you've blown a 25 point lead.

I agree. However, I am shocked that with all the money the cowboys of all teams have not sniffed a SB in awhile. Jerruh is probably the richest owner---when it comes to "buying" championships that is. Unless Kraft is paying extra or has incentives for Goodell. It's all perplexing

I agree they were all penalties, but that still doesn't change the fact that I haven't seen them called that close in sequence before. Doesn't change the fact that Atlanta needed to get a stop on those third downs and I am by no means complaining. Strictly a personal observation.

I've always suspected that Kraft has a briefcase full of cash delivered to Br*dy's house every week that isn't seen on the salary cap.

I didn't mean you, in particular, when I mentioned the bitching about the outcome. I, too, can't remember a sequence like that, and as it all happened I thought something was fishy about it. After watching them all, though, I thought the officiating wasn't as bad as many are making it out to be. Especially with that no call on the Sanu facemask, considering that Sanu ripped Chung or whatever cheats player it was.

I'm sorry DIC, but this post is nothing but sour grapes and crybaby bullshit so we can feel better about ourselves because our team isnt the champ. Money??? So, what, if the patriots dont win the superbowl then the league is gonna fold??

WWE? Do you conspiracy theorists EVER get tired of parroting this ridiculous nonsense??

"Dubya-dubya eee! Thats all it is, these days!"

Keep placing your bets. AND yes I can handle my team losing as MY LIFE don't rotate on win or lose. Football is secondary and ONLY entertainment to me. Crybaby and sour grapes.........opinions are OK too. If I were to explain to you then it would all be conspericy to you. Keep the faith and know NOT every game is fixed.

Lol i dont gamble, but okie dokie

I think the only questionable call in my mind was the strip sack by the Patriots in the second half. I thought ALL turnovers were automatically reviewed, but it seemed like they just accepted the call on the field and gave the ball away.

I thought there was a slim chance it could have been overturned. On replay, the defender hit his arm, not the ball, and Ryan WAS moving forward with the ball. At least it seemed that way to me.

I am not a conspiracy theorist, but is anyone else suspicious of all these story book (and made for Tv) endings to the SB - a game that was in serious. Risks after all the blow out wins in the 90's? Case in point:

2001 - "Patriots" come out of no where to win SB after 9/11

Saints come out of nowhere to win SB the VERY YEAR the Super dome is reopened after Katrina

Steelers win the SB on the Bus' home turf (and last game

The Broncos win the SB in Peyton Manning's last game after being benched previously

The NY Giants come out of no where to upset the previously undefeated Patriots

The Titans lose to the Rams on the last play of the game, by a half yard.

The Steelers beat the Cardinals on Santonios toe tapping catch

The Patriots are faced with what appears to be a sure loss against the Seahawks, but Malcolm Butler comes out of nowhere and makes an improbable interception.

The Ravens win the SB on Ray Lewis' final game.

The Patriots appear to be blown out by the Falcons at half time, and then called me back to win the game in overtime - which happens to be the same year that Donald Trump rises from the heap of apparent defeat to beat Hillary Clinton. And do 't forget the whole Roger Goodell/Deflategate storyline.

I could go on, but I just wonder about these suddenly super endings. I'm not even sure how the conspiracy would occur, but it just seems a bit too coincidental to me. If Cleveland comes out of nowhere to suddenly win a SB, I'll know something is up. (lol) Thoughts?

The one I have the biggest hesitation towards is the Rams/Pats SB.
Besides the cheating with the tapes/soundbites of playcalling to line up with hand gestures called that we already know about, go back and watch the end of the game.
After Vinatieri kicks what is the game winner, check the game clock.
There's 7 or 6 seconds left on the clock after the football went through the uprights, hit the net, and hits the ground.
They just ran all that time off and declared the game over.
I understand that probability says the Rams can't score again, but there's things like the Music City Miracle and other trick plays and crazy plays that could give them a chance with that kind of time.
They had at least three ridiculously fast guys on their team that could have taken one to the house.
Just let them play it out at least.
And of course, they got to that SB in the first place thanks to the Tommy Tuck Rule.

The level people will go to in order to justify a pre-conceived notion that one team should have won over another is truly mind boggling. Listen, the officiating sucks, but the games aren't rigged. ****, it's hard enough to rig a fight and keep it quiet, and there are only two people, hell, actually if you pay a guy to take a dive, only he and whoever paid him needs to know. Can you imagine getting an entire football team, the officials, coaches, etc all on board with some script for an entire game. Not to mention, it only takes one pissed off player to blow the whistle. These guys spend their entire lives learning and playing this sport, they want that SuperBowl ring more than anything else, almost without exception. Not to mention the deals that come with winning the Superbowl, marketing, etc. It makes literally no sense, zero, to say that game is rigged.

I mean, a few seconds of rational thought is all it takes. But hey, tinfoil hats, black helicopters, Illuminati, etc. Cant' fix crazy.

I am the OP. If you read from my original post that I was insinuating that this was some kind of pro-Patriot grand conspiracy, you issued the point. In fact I even included the Steelers in my "theory."

I just suggested that over the last 15-20 years the SB's that had been remarkably non-competitive, had suddenly become notably (and consistently) captivating from start to finish and have had mad for Hollywood storylines. My question was whether there was some artificial influence.

I take NOTHING away from the Patriots or that ga,e inarticulate. In fact I went back and watched the 2nd half again last night. That was one of the best 4th quarters of football I've seen in a long time. If there was a "fix" it was very subtle.

It's just hard to ignore the overall history and trend of the game )over time) and not wonder how that drastic change came to be.
