Corner in round one or two again in 2017?

I have seen King burned. He is NOT Fast.

King needs a good combine/pro day. I think he's more of a football player than an athlete, and when you play corner, that's not a good think.

Could be moved to Saftey.

Sign him. Everyone that you feel negatively about turns into a gem...

Very unlikely to get either a top pass rusher or cover corner at #30 let alone both. One guy who might merit a hard later look is Price from Pitt. Not all great pass rushers are top choices.

This is the year that your comment could be proved incorrect. There is a large crop of defensive players coming out this year and I'll shut my mouth about the draft if we don't see one at 1/30.

The focus won't be on OLB, specifically, but DE's who can also play OLB.

Tim Williams is my first choice but there should be at least 3 viable options by our pick - and this will all change once the combine results come in...

Quick mock.

1 ) Tight end. OJ Howard. Really stood out at the senior bowl. Tall, Super athletic, a natural pass catcher and better than most thought as a blocker.

Can you say RED ZONE Weapon! Complimented by Brown, Bell, and Bryant ( we hope ), Howard can really do some damage.

2 ) Corner Back. Tre'Davious White. A guy can dream, right?

3 ) Edge rusher. Alex Anzalone. Really impressed at the senior bowl practices and during the game

Anzalone is not an OLB in a 34.
I don't think Howard or White are available at the positions you have here. JMO
I will agree that TE is our 2nd biggest need.
Just don't see Green coming back; either by retirement or the Steelers cutting him b/c he can't stay on the field.

I'm thinking:
1. Takk McKinley OLB
2. Evan Engram TE
3. Cameron Sutton CB/S (have to trade up to get him I believe)

Once again we will be shoring up the D in Rd 1 & 2 ....

Pass rusher & CB in 1 & 2 (BPA available will determine order)....Wide-Out in 3....QB in 4.....

That said, if a killer wide-out is available at 2, we will snag it

I think he can be special in the right system. He is not a linebacker. He is a hybrid. Needs to play for a team that uses nickle all the time. Use him as a chess piece. And he is a big time kick returner.

I suppose that sounded harsher than what it was. I view it as the media made him out to be one of the top guys in college football. I didn't quite see that type of impact player, thus why I used "special." If he fell to No. 30, I would strongly consider him for the reasons you said. The Steelers need talented players who can play out of their base nickel.

Maybe so. We have Burns, a sometimes overmatched but solid zone guy in Cockrell, and Gay who looked a bit slower and is aging.

Gay is our slot guy, and Cockrell is better off as a #3 corner on the outside.

So adding a corner in round one or round two might make sense as the better QB's slice and dice our DB's.

Re-watch the Pats game and tell me we don't need a safety first. Burns looks good but Mitchell has been bad and Golden isn't anything special. Both gave up TD's to a La Crosse player and both did it by not playing fundamental football. I would go OLB, S, WR, and then CB if we drafted by needs. Obviously, a lot depends on value at the position when you pick but if all things were the same that is how I draft. Unless Ben flat out retires or Bell is not tagged that is my need board.

I would go Suttton in rd 2. He could be our starter soon enough.

The real problem is, we probably aren't getting a starter at CB or safety in the draft, it could happen, look at this season, but odds are it won't. We need to go out and sign a damn CB if we want to compete with NE, we don't have time to wait on another young guy to come around. I'm not against a CB or safety in round 1, or a pass rusher, but don't have years to wait on guys.

If we could sign a FA cb like Gilmore it would be amazing. Have him start opposite Burns. If we reach and injury settlement with Green maybe it would open up some cap room?

According to some here we have tons of cap room, enough to sign both AB and Bell.

We do thats why the owner said we can do both

We'll see, saying something and actually doing it are two different things, when is the last time the best RB or best WR in football won a super bowl? Not saying not to sign either of those guys, but the defense needs fixed and we don't have time to wait on young guys to learn.

The salary cap is still going up again and should keep rising

Here’s how much the NFL salary cap is expected to rise in 2017

Teams are expected to have a bit more money to spend in the upcoming offseason thanks to a jump in the salary cap.*According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the salary cap will reportedly climb about $10 million. It’s expected to be somewhere between $163 million to $165 million, which is up from the current $155.27 million.

Of course, this isn’t a final amount, but it’s the projected number as it stands right now. NFL owners will meet in Dallas this week at which point the first amount will be presented by the management council.

The final amount will be declared before the new league year begins in March. Since 2013, the salary cap has risen by more than $32 million. That year, it was $123 million before jumping to $133 million in 2014 and $143.28 million last season.

That's is where the cap room is coming from
