General conversation on Paul Zeiss' show on 93.7 last night was that at the high school games MT was okay but Coach Peezy was a douchebag. Two people I work with, one guy does high school sports part-time on the radio, the other is the wife of a coach in North Catholic's conference, and they confirmed the Porter stories.

Joey's "Life's work" should begin VERY soon. I'm betting the Rooney's have spoken to Joey about things like this before and will finally say "this is the straw" man.

You can take a person out of Newport News but you can't take Newport News out of the person.

Tomlin's always been sketchy. Results count and I'm not the moral table pounding kind of fan, but I know Joey Porter is a terrible human being. Not sure about Tomlin but my guess is he's not quite what I consider upstanding either. Average character at best.

Not quite sure what you mean by the Newport News quote but thought a little better of you. I grew up about 20 mi. from Pitts. and retired to about 50 mi from the Norfolk area 20 yrs ago. Proud of my roots but find Norfolk to be a very diverse with a heavy active and retired military population. Can tell you Tomlin is highly respected from what I have seen and maintains contacts with youth groups. When you are questioning a persons character might be better not to guess.

I'm not offended even though I grew up in Newport News and still live in the area. Like many cities there are good and bad areas. Heck Mike Vick's dog fighting ring went by "Bad Newz Kennels".

CMT grew up in a decent part of the city although I am just guessing cause I don't know the exact area. I went to high school with CMT and graduated the year before he did ( I even tried to get him to sign my highschool yearbook at training camp but was unsuccessful). I did not know him personally but know people that did - I have not heard anything negative. Now that was before he became the coach of the Steelers, but he does visit the area frequently and I still have not heard anything bad. FYI our high school mascot name was the "Patriots"... ugh.

I root for him based on him being local, but it is very difficult some times. IF these stories are true I would be fine with the Steelers going another direction at coach. I would like Porter gone either way - wish they could have got Kevin Greene to replace him.

FYI I have been able to watch a lot of good athletes in this area: Vick, Ronald Curry, Allen Iverson, Terry Kirby, Chris Slade, Plaxico, Darren Perry, Mark Royals (remember him - our punter?), Tyrod Taylor, Lawrence Taylor (never saw him play though), list goes on....

BTW OBXSteeler... I try to get to the Outer Banks a few times a year... usally it is Hatteras island.

Thanks for some info from a native. Have really enjoyed both the people and the weather here. Any time you find rooting for Tomlin difficult just ignore the opinions and check the record.
