i have no idea why more teams don't just do what the pats do. Run a bunch of quick crossing and pick routes with WRs who are good at RAC. I mean, they changed the rules so you are pretty much not allowed to even hit them. You have to let them catch it or you get flagged for hitting a "defenseless' receiver.
Not every team has a guy like Brady but let's face it, this offense has lots of really easy reads and throws. They motion a guy or spread out so Brady can tell pre snap if it's man or zone and then he knows where he's throwing before the snap. Then it's just pitch and catch.
There is a lot of bad coaching in today's NFL. The Pats just take advantage of coaches who are too stubborn to change or simply don't know any other way. I think part of this is that it seems what is valued most now in coaching is play calling. Media is quick to label a coach a genius if he comes up with a few plays per game that fools the other team and makes a big play. Nevermind if the rest of tye plays are littered with bad blocking or tackling, bad routes, busted coverages, etc. That teaching of fundamentals is no longer consdiered good coaching.
Playcalling, particularly offensive playcalling is one of the easiest things there is. But owners continue to hire these young hit shot coaches who get their face on sportscenter because of 1 or 2 plays in a game they lost by 14. They hire the guy who tells them what they want to hear in interviews.
