AB breaks silence..denies claims by media

If it's false, it's a lame stunt by the media. However, if you don't want them to talk about you, don't give them a reason. When you promote yourself that much, there is bound to be negative press when things don't go well.

There will always be negative media accusations in a high profile position. Enjoy the off season. Get healthy and make a push again.

Heck. I was hoping for a FB live speech.

**** the media

Yeah because you can hold AB to his word. LOL.
I hope Cook did make that up and it is a lie.

This is pretty much what I said in the other thread. AB has been a model player, teammate and worker up until he is about to get paid. Then, all of a sudden, he is being attacked by the media (and many fans on here). It just doesn't make any sense. Pay the man! Pay Bell too with extra clauses in the contract for drug use.

The inner FRONT OFFICE knows what is going on. Us outside looking in can only speculate and that includes the media. I agree with you as to PAY the player(s). ONLY at maximum 3year contract with recouperable money if failed drug test (singular).

Salute the nation

Right on. Because if we don't keep them both the bitchers will have a lot of other things to talk about.

He got paid last time and there were no attacks. Just saying. We all thought the steelers were crazy. Could be a lie. Could be still truth, whats he going to do admit to it?

I hope its a lie too.

How do you pay Bell and Brown? And have the money for Shazier, Tuitt, Dupree?

Wow Tom. What did Brown do to you? I mean your dislike for him is palpable. Normally you're a pretty reasonable guy but you clearly have an axe to grind here.

Brown has been underpaid and he's over-performed for his entire career. If a sacrifice has to be made on ANY of the aforementioned players it wouldn't be Brown. (IMO, anyway.)

When you have 40 million in cap room is how you pay Bell and Brown. Why you're worried about Bud Dupree when he has 3 years left on his contract makes no sense. You can sign Tuitt or Shazier and franchise the other worse come to worse.

40 million in cap space, how many players are currently signed? I brough up dupree because Bell and Brown aren't going to take 3 year deals, they'll want 5 I'm guessing, as they should, so when you are getting into their big pay seasons, Dupree will need signed.

By the time we carry over 3 mil plus the cap goes up to 170 mil were going to be looking at 38 million in cap room. In three years Roethlisbergers contract will be off the books so that clears your room for Dupree. Every year contracts come off the books. There is always money. Hell we were 10 million over the cap in 2011 but we were still able to sign Woodley to a 61 million dollar contact.

the way I'm reading it, we have 51 guys signed and we have just over 35 million in space.

I don't want Brown past Ben, which is why I don't give Brown a long term deal.

You don't want Brown to make more then Ben is what you are saying?

What, where do you get that out of what I said???? I don't want to be paying a WR the money Brown will want without a QB to throw him the ball.

I have to think Bell and Brown will want to be the highest paid at their position, I just don't see us doing that

Team Salary Cap: $171,269,367

Team Cap Space: $36,578,710

Source, over the cap, Steelers 2017

PS: If the Steelers opt to Cut L Green pre-June 1, 2017, they save $2,625,000 in cap space. I do think OJ Mayo is a pro bowl level talent, who should go in the later half of round one.

OJ Mayo certainly has some height, but lacks the ideal weight. Though, maybe it can be done since he's suspended by the NBA for another season for drugs. If he hits the same diet that Casey Hampton was on, he has a chance. Though, I don't see why you'd want to spend a first round pick on a washed-up NBA player who's 29, underweight and has never played TE.
