That's as good as it gets with Tomlin

Cowher had Ben for three years, 1-AFCG / 1-SB win / 1-nothing (but Ben face planted and appendectomy and wife cancer.

How long has our GREAT CMT had Ben????

Salute the nation

Everybody keeps saying that Cowhers last year was marred by his wife having cancer. Now, I don't mean ANY disrespect to Mrs. Cowher or the Cowher family, however, she was not diagnosed with cancer until the year 2010. I don't know when or where this started, but people really run with it, and it just isn't true. Everything else(Ben playing chicken with a car, Ben's appendectomy) did linger.

He will address all kinds of needs and still preside over a team of stupid kids who drop the mic when they do expected things, and the rest who make stupid plays every game. This team is a joke to everyone who knows what a serious contender should act like. All you ******** who say we should be happy that we are not Cleveland or Cincinati can suck my balls. We never were them, and they are not even close to a benchmark for the Steelers.

The Steelers are never as low as Cleveland. Period. As for Tomlin. Next season is SB or bust. Given the injuries and suspensions he was dealt with, playing rookies and reaching the afccg. It's an improvement over a 1 and done playoff appearance. If the Steelers continue to employ the same defensive philosophy against the pats in future games. Then yes, I'll join the Tomlin bashing crowd again. But in the meantime I feel this is just the beginning of the new crop of core players for the Steelers

THANK YOU for clearing that up. I guess I'm like a "FINE JOURNALISM" journalist. I hear something and I take it for true news so the explaination will help me for future reference. Again thank you (no sarcasm)

I do remember at that time they had some friction in their marriage.

Perhaps she was sick off and on?

Regardless it is clear his head was somewhere else for whatever reason.

And it showed itself when he hung it up.

If you were old enough to remember we not only were them we were worse in the 60's. In the years since I think we've had 7 or 8 losing seasons. I don't think I would be continue to support a team I thought was a "joke" so maybe you should re-evaluate yourself.

Outside of the Patriots, where is this team that doesn't seem to have stupid kids? I have been saying this for a while now. Whatever the Pats are doing, give them credit. It is special, because they don't seem to have problems with stupid kids, and if they do, they ship his *** out. And it doesn't kill them because they have solid talent behind who just got a major lesson on the fact that they can't be idiots.

But again, besides the Pats, where is this team? Seattle was the rage a few years ago, and they have had some issues with selfish, stupid players. Green Bay? Kinda the same as the Steelers. Baltimore has had some knuckleheads.

So the question I have for you is, if you had to choose right now between Antonio Brown and Julian Edlemann, who would you take? If you say Brown, your little argument here is just bullshit. Brown is a great player, better than Edlemann, but not by overly much. But he is definitely not the selfish, stupid player Brown can be.

People running with the cancer story are the same people that say Ben was playing chicken with cars, or doing something wrong on his bike, the lady failed to yield and turned left right in front of him.

Browns issues is overblown IMO.

Without him the Steelers wouldn't have been in the AFC championship, or in the playoffs for that matter.

You can win with Antonio, he isn't the reason the Steelers didn't make it to the SB. The lack of a number 2 WR helped with that. As well as a still growing defense.

I don't disagree with that. However, the statement was the Steelers have a lot of stupid kids who do stupid things out there. Well, that for sure is Antonio Brown. From his celebration penalties, to the coach having to take time during a game to address footwear, to him running wrong routes, those things are stupid. The premise is the Steelers need to get less stupid, I suppose. Well, then you need to get rid of some of these stupid players, like the Patriots do. Antonio Brown is never going to change. Yes, he is a great player and it isn't me complaining about having stupid kids. But if you are complaining about having stupid kids, what are you prepared to do?

Actually, marred by Roethlisberger face-planting on a windshield, then having an appendectomy, and then getting concussed against Atlanta and not finishing the game.

Those actually made more of a difference, I suggest.

Educate them.

Sit them all in a room.

Show them the Patriots game tape.

Tell them in the process of showing them how they can improve.

you point out.

*that if they want to advance to the SB it will take a unselfish approach. Working together as a team. No distractions, as distractions limit progress.

That if they focus a little bit more perhaps they win against teams they have no business losing to.

And in the process they gain home field advantage.

And in the process they will be focusing on growing and fixing weaknesses.

Which is a lot more important than padding stats.

As I say right to Antonio in this meeting, that if everyone jumps on board with what I am saying good things will happen, instead of falling short of bringing another trophy to Pittsburgh.

Then I go person to person, and ask if they understand what I am talking about.

That in the off season start to think of this and work on more of being a team player and less on the mememe breakdowns.

The things holding this team back.

Because make no mistake about it, it is.

The I explain that is one aspect of the problem that each player can control, And to let us work on it together.

To be accountable.

I still remember that season. Hines out ran Hall in one shoE that Atlanta game. Parker had a big game against the Saints. If Roethlisberger wasn't hurt, same as Polamalu that season. I think they could've made the playoffs

I completely agree, and stated as such in the rest of my post, which you left out. But I've seen the cancer story pop up just about every time 2006 is brought up, and it's not true.

PS- DRINK IRON CITY, I didn't intend for that to be a dig or anything by pointing it out on your post, yours was just the most recent example is all.

I agree with all that. However, there are two important things to consider. One, there is a strong possibility Tomlin is doing all of that. Second, what if they don't listen? What are you prepared to do? You cannot force grown men making millions of dollars to listen to you. Belechick takes a guy like Jamie Collins and cuts his ***. Collins wasn't buying into what some say is one of the greatest coaches ever was saying. Collins is a pretty good player. He certainly was no scrub. Are you prepared to move on from an Antonio Brown or Martavis Bryant or LeVeon Bell to make a statement? Because truthfully, and I don't like this anymore than anybody else would, it may take that to get these guys to stop being stupid.

Yeah you do what you have to do.

Bryant needs priorities in check. That is up to him personally to figure it out. I'm sure the Steelers organization reached out and got him the help he needed.

Bell and Brown's antics do not bother me anymore. I used to hate when Brown would do the TD dances. The nfl is already dry as is. I'm fine with the celebrations again as long as he continues to make plays. Bell seems to drop the reefer when needed. I don't think there is much Tomlin can say.

In high school and college it's easier for the coach to have a presence of authority. At the professional level? These are grown men making millions of dollars. That is up to them to want to be a good or bad character. I think the Rooney's do a respectsble job at employing great character guys, even if it sets the team back a few seasons. I would rather be a respected franchise than some franchise like the Bengals who continue to have off-field issues

I have no problem with spontaneous celebrations. I think that is fun and what the NFL needs. Like when Brown jumped onto the goalpost that time. It's the scripted stuff that gets to me.

Wasn't anything against you, just using that phrase, because alot fans think he was to blame for that entire incident

I gotcha, it was a poor choice of words, especially because I knew that Ben wasn't at fault with that whole ordeal.

The 7th and perhaps 8th championship will come. I think the Steelers are prime for a run

You have more faith than I do then. Not with this coaching staff. We had the best team we've had in a while (minus some WR's), the Pats**** had the weakest team offensively they've had in a while, and we still couldn't get past them.

If they can't knock off a bunch of nobodies this year then next year won't be any better. What's good for me is I no longer have any expectations at all. The Steeler brand is dead anyway. Banned.
