Things that need to change for the better next season. The coaches can do it. In no particular order, he's how I see it.

1 ) Red Zone offense. With all the talent we have, you'd figure we score more touchdowns in the red zone. QB sneaks, and Play action should be called more often on 2nd and short. Calling the 2 point conversion plays ( mostly out of the shotgun ) I think could help.
What hurts is these fade patterns to the end zone. It takes a perfectly thrown ball, and sometimes a good catch to convert them. Haley seems to love them.

2 ) Our soft zone defense. It does not work vs the better QBs. Defensive play calling is partly based on deployment and deception. In a game of rock, paper, scissors, we keep throwing out rock, when the best QB's are good at the paper. Tighter coverage is needed inside the 30-yard lines and blitzing off the corner to me is the quickest way to force a throw.

3 ) Fewer Diva distractions and stupid penalties. Tomlin should not be afraid of pulling a diva from being introduced as the starter or benching him in a blowout game where " stat" padding can happen. Warn them once, then just do it.

4 ) When we have a lead, the offense tends to go into turtle mode too often, only to come alive when the game is close or we are down.

About the O playcall: having bell in the kc chiefs game tearing a new hole to that D Haley decides to pass in goal line, yet in the pats* game with bell out he decides to run but he does it without a FB and on an off-tackle play, result? We lost yards.
I mean half a yard away you got to plow ahead with nix being the wrecking ball
So in general Haley is good but when things matter the most he got a couple of brainfarts, don't know what to be done about it.

Run more I and offset I at the goal line. Better blocking more options quick hitter to FB or fake to FB then pitch outside or hit Te after play action or just power up the middle behind Nix Playction to bootleg so many options to prepare for.

Haley is good because he has Ben Roethlisberger, all pro's at RB and WR, and Pro bowl lineman.

The defense needs a fixing more than the offense. I think Ben was just hesitant to throw to the younger guys in the red zone. That defense though. They need to be aggressive on the opposing wr's. The pass rush is there. Hargrave, Heyward, Tuitt, and the outside rush. Of Dupree, possible return of Harrison, Moats and Chickillo can provide pressure. ILB is set with Timmons, Shazier, Williams and Matakevich. The team is young and talented but inexperienced in the secondary. Maybe just maybe one physical corner can make a difference

Moats can't provide pressure

Nothing #2 WR, TE, DE, NT, OLB, MLB, CB and playmaker S couldn't fix

Our #2 WR is coming back
TE Jesse James = vast improvement
DE ? Our depth played real well
NT ? 3rd round or higher
OLB. BIGGEST NEED. 1st rnd or HIGH FA
MLB. Possible up grade
CB. NEED 2nd rnd or HIGH FA
S. Fill in

Salute the nation

I know it is a pipedream

At least for two free agents.

But I would like to see a clear upgrade brought in at CB and OLBer.

If the FO tries to cheap these areas again, the result will be somewhat similar.

Tombert should know that the D is still missing parts.

It needs a better pass rush and it needs at least one cover corner, if not two.You know capable of playing press,

I agree on the pipe dream but I'm no salary cap gynecologist. It's said we have a substantial amount under and I do realize we have some contracts to resign. I build / sign for the next three years ONLY. That is about our window so 2 SBs in three years and with this team it is doable. PIPE DREAM yes but also a possibility.

hopefully Ben is showing them that window is shrinking.

I said it before and still believe it.

The Steelers need a Denver type push as they brought in a pass rusher and a corner. And we see how that turned out.

Hopefully someone like Ben is lobbying for the upgrade......
