Things that need to change for the better next season. The coaches can do it. In no particular order, he's how I see it.
1 ) Red Zone offense. With all the talent we have, you'd figure we score more touchdowns in the red zone. QB sneaks, and Play action should be called more often on 2nd and short. Calling the 2 point conversion plays ( mostly out of the shotgun ) I think could help.
What hurts is these fade patterns to the end zone. It takes a perfectly thrown ball, and sometimes a good catch to convert them. Haley seems to love them.
2 ) Our soft zone defense. It does not work vs the better QBs. Defensive play calling is partly based on deployment and deception. In a game of rock, paper, scissors, we keep throwing out rock, when the best QB's are good at the paper. Tighter coverage is needed inside the 30-yard lines and blitzing off the corner to me is the quickest way to force a throw.
3 ) Fewer Diva distractions and stupid penalties. Tomlin should not be afraid of pulling a diva from being introduced as the starter or benching him in a blowout game where " stat" padding can happen. Warn them once, then just do it.
4 ) When we have a lead, the offense tends to go into turtle mode too often, only to come alive when the game is close or we are down.
