William Gay

They do have Golson and Gilbert on the roster, but I think it'd be a mistake to drop William. **** I'd rather move on from Mitchell.

Sounds like the Steelers are about done getting any usefulness out of Willie. I like the man and the player he was - he's made some huge plays for us in his career. But sounds like it's time to move on. I really hope Senquez can be a strong cover guy for us.

I wouldn't dump Gay until there is a clear upgrade at slot CB on the roster. He doesn't make that much money for a guy who is basically a starter (~70% of the snaps). Right now he is the only guy on the roster capable of playing in the slot. I would want to have evidence that Golson can make it through training camp healthy and that there is someone else capable before ditching Gay.

His play is declined you can bring one corner in and draft another one...........No need to wait.

Be aggressive and bring in 1 CB upgrade and one OLBer upgrade

that's cold. I like Big Play Willie Gay

He signed at hometown discount price, we should honor that final year or at least give him a chance at training camp

I don't understand why we would drop him considering we are paper thin at the position. I agree you have to look for an upgrade but if you start cutting vets in the secondary they will be in the same position they were in last year at this time.

We still need help in the secondary.

What's the point of keeping "experienced players" in the secondary if they can no longer cover anyone?

It did not seem like Gay's experience did them much good against the AFC's big dick Sunday night.

mitchell stays gilbert and golsen can compete in camp if willi cant play cut or move as the back up SS.

I like this IDEA as we need better cover guys. Willie is slowing and NOT who we thought he was, obviously

Salute the nation

That's the thing, you don't have anyone who is better and a rookie would still not be as good as a starter. Golson...maybe...we'll see. He's been with the team for two years and played five minutes.

Scapegoating Gay for terrible defensive game plan, thats just beautiful. This article is some weak ****. Did BB smoke our defense in the previous two AFCCGs because of Gay too?

How about this defense old news to the rest of the NFL? How often do we give up 11 yards on 3rd & 10? Or 22 yards on 3rd & 20? Do we need to move on from Gay? Maybe, but we definitely need to move on from Butler.

Sorry, I cant just give Carnell Lake a pass too. The defense got shredded. End of season we were elated with the players play .
Someone Between Tomlin,, Def. Coordinator, and lake need to take the fall.

We all know what the ******** do to this soft zone. They should know too.

Yah make sense to fire Lake after the job he did with Davis and Burns. Makes sense.

I disagree that a rookie cannot be better than Gay because of experience. If what the beat writers are saying is true, part of the reason we didn't play more man in Foxboro is because Willie couldn't hang. He's a liability. He knows the system but he physically can't execute anymore, and that's a shame but if it's reality, then it's reality. A rookie or a young FA pickup might not be a liability out there in that way.

Maybe not the previous two AFCC's but Gay has been brutally destroyed by brady* in the past. No, we didn't lose that game simply because of Gay, but the guy is at the end of his career and has definitely lost more than a step.

I agree moving on from Gay. He has definitely lost a step. I would keep Gilbert. Get him in all off-season training and in camp and he will be competing and getting starting time. If Golson is ever healthy, he may see the field too. **** is hit or miss but Artie is going to be a good one as is Davis at safety. We need to pick someone up in FA at CB and OLB. A solid FA CB, not a superstart, just solid will be a huge help especially since we can't count on Golson to even make it to and through camp.

Big Play is well past his heyday time to move forward
