Keep it classy, Steelers
Q: Is there a more classless franchise in sports than the Pittsburgh Steelers?
A: No.
The reality is the Steelers are a menace to the league, one that nobody within the NFL offices seems to have the fortitude or interest in standing up to.
From malicious attempts by players to maim and intimidate to coaches pulling the hair of players on the sidelines, it never seems to end.
Sunday night it was another helmet-to-helmet hit to a defenseless wide receiver. Last week was the near decapitation of a defenseless quarterback.
The ringleader of it all is head coach Mike Tomlin, who sets the tone for his team's 'Good Fellas' street thug mentality.
Pittsburgh players leave bodies on the field, their coaches insert themselves into games and are drunk and disorderly in public. It's an endless string of bad behavior.
Last week, two Steelers were fined for illegal hits: Bud Dupree was fined for his hit on Dolphins quarterback Matt Moore. Wide receiver Eli Rogers was fined for his illegal blindside hit during the third quarter of the game.
Assistant coach Joey Porter was arrested following last week's game. Charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest and defiant trespass were eventually dropped. But public drunkenness and disorderly conduct remained. The two citations each carry fines up to $500 and 90 days in jail.
Last night, WR Antonio Brown streamed Tomlin' postgame speech on Facebook Live.
Sadly, all of this behavior is condoned by the Rooney family, the owners of a once proud and respected franchise. They should be ashamed.
