This is the time of year, when it is actually beneficial to have a good kick returner. The weather is cold, the ball is dropping at the goal line, and returns are now possible. Unless your name is Toussant. He can't get 10 freakin yards on a KO return. I don't want him back there, blocker or not. He's a liability. And I don't want him in a situation where he can have another big playoff fumble. I'm done with him.

Put Ayres, DHB, or Gilbert back there. Anyone but Toussant.

I think he's back there as the blocker, but teams aren't dumb and they're going to kick it right at him. I'm over our returners taking out of the end zone. Just take a knee and get to the 25.

Teams seem to be kicking it right to the goal line and putting returners into a bind of not wanting to let it drop (live ball) but not being sure they are not out. I agree he should be off this Sp. Team, but I doubt highly he will.

We're gonna have to endure this special teams unit for the rest of the season unfortunately.

I wanted him cut after the fumble in the Cleveland game.......

Man, if we EVER get a good returner that would be awesome. Never really had one......And I still am not crazy about AB doing punt patrol

Maybe we can kidnap Tyreek Hill while we're in KC? Bring him to NE with us....

This is why they drafted the midget. Both our kickoff return, and coverage has been bad for most of the last 25 years. Remember the revolving door of special teams coaches in the 90s? I think Bobby April was the only one who really had some success.

It reminds me when we kept trotting out Davenport for KR.

Just hold on to the ball. That's my only concern. Who can we trust at this point in time to do that.

I want him off the team. How many times is he gonna kill us? One bone headed play after another.

We have one but he isn't being played in that role. His name is inspire AYERS !!!!!!!

Salute the nation

CMT has been asked about the returners and their poor performances the past few PCs. He gives the same stubborn coach speak answer every time.

Toussaint is running in slow motion out there, feet-in-the-mud slow. I agree that Ayers may be our best bet. Put him in, Coach T!

I like gilbert on returns. The few times I saw him return looked like he had some good moves

I said the same thing watching the game. Coates at least looks like he has the CHANCE to bust one because he gets up field quick. Touissant can't even get to the 20 which should be the bare minimum for a returner (besides holding onto the ball).

All I know is Boz better bring his kickoff boot next weekend because Tyreek Hill is the last person you want returning kicks against you. Must be nice to have that kind of weapon.

I agree Gilbert is way better than Toussaint. Marcus and Justin.

Gilbert didn't get a hat this week. Who do you want to sit in order for him to play? It would almost have to be a wideout. My biggest concern is that someone will fumble. I'd take it at the 25 every time rather than risk that.

It's terrible coaching. It is not Toussaint's fault that he is being put in a position he shouldn't be in. Fitz is a fine #3 RB. It would be fine to have him there as Coates' lead blocker if they could figure out a way to make it more difficult for teams to kick directly to Fitz.

This is a case of Tomlin (who I support) being stubborn as hell, like not benching Blake last season.

Yep. Tomlin needs to make this switch.

Gilbert was inactive.

But Ayers wasn't...tell em Coolie

College career

Ayers was Houston's starting kick returner in his freshman season and was named to the 2013 AAC First Team as a kick returner. He had 37 returns for 1,021 yards, breaking a Houston freshman record.

In 2014, in his sophomore season, he had 33 receptions for 335 yards and two touchdowns at receiver. He also made 34 returns for 592 yards at kick returner.

In 2015, in his junior season, Ayers led the American Athletic Conference in receptions with 98 and ranked sixth in the nation in receptions. He totaled 1,222 receiving yards, 18th in the nation. He was named to The American first team at both wide receiver and kick returner.[2]

This team hasn't been the same since Archer left. He was never used properly. (166 pages)

Ayers junior year he only returned punts not kick-offs...not sure why he switched to punts after his sophomore year except the kid they had doing punts in 2015 (Brandon Wilson) was damn good at it.

I know from reports that Ayers has practiced at punt returns, not sure if he is even on the depth chart for kick-offs. But, hell yeah, throw him out there he'll do it.....

Rogers can do it, and Gilbert is really good on kickoffs.
