Roethlisberger: Even Burfict’s Teammates ‘Can’t Stand’ The Way He Plays
December 20, 2016 11:28 AM

PITTSBURGH (93-7 The FAN) – The Steelers came out of Cincinnati last week with a big 24-20 victory over the Bengals, but it’s not truly a Steelers-Bengals rivalry game without some Vontaze Burfict controversy, and that’s where things started on this week’s edition of “The #1 Cochran Ben Roethlisberger Show.”

At one point during Sunday’s game, Burfict threw Ben to the ground and the two exchanged words following a Burfict headbutt. Ben said Burfict didn’t really have anything to say to him, it was more what Ben said that stunned the Bengals linebacker.

“It’s nothing what you’d expect, it’s actually I talked to him, I don’t remember if he said anything to me,” Ben said. “I can share it because it’s my show…I said, ‘Hey, this is a great opportunity for me to tell you exactly what my wife wanted me to tell you if I got a chance. She wanted me to tell you that she’s praying for you.’ That’s what I told him, no joke.”

On a more serious note about Burfict, Ben said he has talked to other players about his antics and even they aren’t sure why he plays the way he does.

“I think they roll their eyes with some of the antics, truthfully,” he said.

Ben was even asked how much the Bengals’ coaches could do to stop the dirty play.

“I don’t know what he’s [Marvin Lewis] able and capable of doing. Maybe he’s tried, maybe he hasn’t, I don’t really know, I can’t speak for what they do over there…I know some of their players they just can’t stand it and I know if it was on our team, we’d have to have a talk,” Ben said.

**** that dirty waste of human space. Birthdefect is what he is

In the game, in the locker room, talking to the players, talking to coach - Ben likes to tell reporters what he tells people when he thinks it makes him look good. "I told him my wife wanted me to tell you that she’s praying for you" - wtf. That's just weird. If that was sincere he would not have told reporters that.

That hit on Nix was bullshit, and should be fined. HE took Nix out on one play away and not even a ******* echo from the refs.

**** berthdefect the bengals and the refs in that game.

He is actually a heck of a player. Don't know why he has to do some of the goofy ****. Maybe he feels he has to. You know, if he did some of that dirty crap to Tommy up there in NE, we'd probably love the guy.

I just don't want the Bengals to change, though. They keep employing these childish players, and it keeps biting them in the ***. They will never learn, it seems. Hopefully they never will. Hell, I sat there on Sunday watching, and even when it was 20-6, I thought, well, it's the Bengals. There is always the chance they implode. And look what happened. It's laughable, really.

I hear you Charles, though I think he said it on his radio show. He has to fill more time on that show as opposed to it being a locker room interview.

I'm just glad AB had a sixth sense on the hit that missed early in the game. AB was down and birthdefect dove at him with his helmet. If AB wouldn't have moved, he would have hit him in the back of his helmet and probably knocked him out for multiple games like he did last year. Dude had at least 6 dirty hits that I saw and then they showed some others on one of the replays. Why he isn't out of the league by now is baffling. Debo used to play hard and hit hard and was considered dirty but he never targeted players and never attempted to make deliberate dirty hits. He just hit real damn hard and played real damn hard.

Couple of things............... T*mmy b*y would deserve the cheap shot as he is a known cheater. Everybody knows this and a little retaliation would be good in many of the people's eyes. Granted BIRTHDEFECT is a dirty player but then again so is t*mmy b*y. No sympathy lost either way, SECONDLY, did the bungles really implode or did the STEELERS just play a way better 2nd half? I think the TT incident created a spark and our guys played that much better.

Hey, I am not taking anything away from the Steelers, although I do not buy the TT stuff. I don't think the players give two ***** about a towel. They played much better.

That being said, the Bengals, at least on paper, are as talented as anyone in the league. Since that is the case, why does this keep happening? If the Steelers are down to NE 20-6, even if they play better, what are the chances they win?

It is a concern of mine as it pertains to the Steelers. They are more mature than the Bengals, but that ain't saying much. This Sunday we will see. The Ravens have their number recently, and that is in part, IMO, to the Steelers losing some of that mature leadership they used to have and the struggle to try and replace it.

I agree with you as the STEELERS don't have near the leadership as they've had in the past. I do think Ben R. Has stepped up to a degree as you can see in his in-game body language / demeanor that he has a greater URGANCY to things. As for the bungles, there has been many an implosion with that organization. Last year's play off game is a GREAT example. Again I don't disagree with you and yes I want them to keep on keeping on with buisness as usual as that means they are bottom of the pack. With the ratbirds our coaching staff played right into their hands. They are not as good as they think they are. We will have a better game plan and It won't take a TT incident to make us play better. Our in game adjustments will be better team wise as well. Here's to pounding the ratbirds and on to the Browns next week.

We may want that piece of **** playing next weekend for the Bungholes

I'm not happy that Burfict was let back in so quickly, since you could clearly see, he was hit hard enough to not only cause a headache, but he lost feeling in his arm because of it as well. Don't know how he got cleared so fast, but I am happy to hear he has headaches to remind of the beating that pro bowler DeCastro put on his cheap shot ***!

Burfict may be the dumbest player in the league, but hopefully DeCastro knocked some sense into him.

We're kinda thin at WR, sign and activate Hines Ward for this one...just for old time sake.

"Reverend" Ben...
Should just keep his pie hole shut and concentrate his energy on Sunday..
