A bad @ss stuff on the goal line and another key interception. Both of these plays are the reason we won.

Keep up the good work number 94.

uh huh.
now you try to get on the Timdong Train. No room for you.

Its costs $15,000,000.00 on the cap to ride. I'm just saying he has been key lately. Whether he's worth that money next year is a different story, but here's your chance to vouch for it!

he won't be getting that kind of coin next year. he knows that. he sees his career is coming to an end. maybe he's trying to get a ring.

Didn't he already say he'd take a lower wage if it meant remaining a Steeler.

How much lower? Maybe if he'll take half of what he's making this year I'd be okay with a 1 year deal.

The fact that Timmons cap hit is 15 million because of restructures mean nothing to you..

I most definitely try to bring him back, but at a much lower cap number. Keep in mind his cap number THIS year is because the team moved salary forward to relieve the cap and that's why his cap hit is so high right now, not because he's a $15M a year guy.

I'm guessing Shazier (when healthy) is to Timmons as Clark was to Palumalu.

Oh, it was a can kicked down through the years. I think you should stay away from cap related threads as your ability to perceive value relative tot he cap number is not the best.

But as of right now, Timmons is playing his best ball.

Oh I understand them quite well..he restructured his contract numerous times which made his cap hit this year what it is.. he didn't sign a contract that called for 15 million to be paid. So for you to keep whining about his cap hit and his money that he earned shows that you don't understand ****..

You don't understand it. I get the 15 million number for 2016 is here due to restructures. Read read this 2x. What you don't get it this:

Timmons is a very good player, who was overpaid though the totality of his contract. When you overpay veterans, you limited your ability to:

1 ) Re-sign your own
2 ) Sign veteran free agents.

Many of us think he has earned his paycheck every year since Year 3.

Didn't he already say he'd take a lower wage if it meant remaining a Steeler.

I think that was a misinterpretation of something he said, but I don't remember the details. Although, I think he knows he ain't getting $8m+/year for the rest of his playing years.

How much lower? Maybe if he'll take half of what he's making this year I'd be okay with a 1 year deal.

Half of what he is actually making or half of his cap it? Half of what he is actually making this year, would be between $4m-$5m, I think. Half of his cap it is $7.5m. I'd love to see him back at $5m. Maybe as high as $6m.

According to who was he overpaid??? Please tell me according to who..he signed his contract the team asked him to restructure to help them.. now his cap hit is what it is. How was he overpaid???

Your opinion coach, which is obviously not shared by either the Steelers or a majority of we fans. Can you think of anyone more valuable we may have lost?

There are a few who don't think he is worth the cash he actually got, notwithstanding the cap hits.

According to this site, Timmons contract has the 5th best average for ILB. I'd argue that he has been, at least, top-10 ILB during his tenure (starting with season 3). the 10th highest average is about $2.4m less. IMO, assuming you don't want to suck, this is the amount you "might" have left over had you not signed Timmons for his contract or given him a lower one he would take. I think that contract was signed right after he had a pretty damn, good year, too.

If he'll consider a reasonable salary, I wouldn't mind a 3 year contract.

He's played pretty damn good, but I think Vince Williams is ready to start next season along side Shazier.

Maybe, but VINCE seems slower. If Timmons signs a 4.8 to 5.2mill I'd take him.

Salute the nation

Timmons made $8.75M this year. His restructures (that helped the team get under the cap and sign FAs for the past couple years) is the reason why he has $6.5M prorated showing a $15M cap. That cap falls to zero next year.

Coach you've shown some problems with the cap in the past: Thinking you would save $3.6M for cutting Foster next year, when in fact it would only save $1.75M with another $1.8 against the cap in 2017.

So perhaps AJ does know what he's talking about?

Yes, Timmons made $8.75 million this year as a base, however, an additional $6,381,250 is prorated, bringing his total 2016 cap number to $15,131,250

I'm not capoligist, but I think the over the cap site is very accurate, so I choose to quote them.

As for Foster, I'm for a trade that takes close to or all of his 2017 cap number. Cutting him might save $1.75M with this year's cap space would not make a lot of sense.
