The Steelers are looking healthy this week. With the surprise return to practice for DeAngelo Williams on Friday after missing practice on Thursday, it looks like the Steelers will have him back in the lineup for the Cincinnati game. DHB and Shamarko are ruled out, so we have 5 slots to fill this week. This is Shamarko's second week missed with a concussion, so it must be a serious case. I am still surprised that DHB hasn't been added to the IR. The Steelers must be holding out hope that he can return week 17.
1. Darrius Heyward-Bey mid foot
2. Shamarko Thomas Concussion
3. Zack Mettenberger Healthy Scratch 3rd QB Inactive
4. Brian Mihalik Healthy Scratch With Finney and Foster returning, he should sit.
5. Xavier Grimble Healthy Scratch The Steelers have 3 healthy TEs in front of him and adding Ayres gives them another receiving threat that needs time on the field.
6. Daryl Richardson Healthy Scratch With DWill returning the Steelers don't need 4 healthy RBs
7. Jarvis Jones Healthy Scratch
What a season Jarvis has had. He was a starter and performed well for a couple games, but being a FA, he needed to put in a stronger showing this season, and he simply did not. Meanwhile younger players have jumped past him, as well as the oldest player to put him in a position where he now offers little value to the team other than emergency depth. He offers little on special teams with only one ST snap last week and paired with his single defensive snap, he looks like the logical choice to sit this week.
If he is inactive, do not look for the Steelers to target him at all in free agency.
