Steelers promote Ayers; release Bullock
Posted 1 minute ago
Demarcus Ayers spent the first 14 weeks of the season on the practice squad
The Steelers have promoted wide receiver Demarcus Ayers to the active roster, the team announced today.

Ayers spent the first 14 weeks of the season on the team’s practice squad after entering the NFL as the Steelers’ first of two seventh-round (229th overall) draft selections in 2016.

To make room on the active roster for Ayers, the Steelers released kicker Randy Bullock.

Or was the final piece "Randy Bullock" subtracted. Is Ayers really that big a deal Coolie or are you being sarcastic. I know someone here is really high on him.

A little bit of sarcasm...but I am really high on him. I think Ayers has real potential. Hell he can't be much worse than the other WRs this season (excluding AB).

Special teams player at best this year. Still puzzled why Coates isn't playing on offense if he's catching the ball in practice. We may get to see your boy Ayers returning kicks. He best not fumble!!

I was going to post a thread for you Coolie. I knew Bullock was going to be released and Ayres is the logical choice on the call up.

We really, really, really need to shore up the 2nd and 3rd WR spots with capable HEALTHY bodies for the playoffs.

Whats the status of DHB's foot ? Sammies fingers seem out of commission. Eli appears like Loch Ness monster then dips beneath the surface again.

AB is gonna continue to see double coverage. Im so glad Ladarius has produced so this should help but we really could use Sammie and DHB stretching things over the top.

Ayers has been spending time in practice at the slot and out wide. He suffered a high and low ankle sprain in training camp but fought through the injury and stayed on the field. Hopefully with the injury behind him he can show some of his talent that got him drafted. I hope he gets a shot at returning punts Sunday.

It was kinda fun having a Bullock and a Jesse James on the team at the same time, however briefly.

Somebody has GOT to figure out what the hell is going on with Coates.

If he fumbles, you get to sock Coolie in the stomach.

DHB just got out of his walking boot, so now he has to rehab. He's not full strength, and may not be before the end of the season. They Ayers call up is good, because we need another wide receiver. We've been playing with AB, Hamilton, Eli (Banged up) and Coates (Banged up) for a month now. Eli is getting healthy and he's getting in and out of his breaks much quicker, so his foot must be 100% by now. Coates should be healed and without pain by now. He only had 1 snap on offense, so it will be interesting to see if he starts getting significant snaps, or if they're going to start putting Ayres all over the field. I expect at least a few 4 wide looks this week with Ayres playing.

My buddy listens to Charlie Batch and Tunch and those guys postgame on the radio. According to him, they said he is catching the ball fine, but his route running sucks. It's a fly and that's it. Now, my buddy hears what he wants to hear sometimes, so maybe some of you if you listened can say if that is so or not.

I don't get that pre injury his routes were good enough to get playing time

SUPER glad as Inspires Ayers is called up. I realize he is a dream come true for our man CoolieMan but if he can contribute in some way it would be awesome. Maybe even draw a double now and then or require over the top concern. ANYTHING to loosen up AB. We will see what it is but at least he has a hat and goes forward from there.

Salute the nation

Gerry Dulac said the same thing this past week, maybe he's not up to speed on the no huddle or hot routes, I'm not sure, but in one if the earlier games he ran a lazy in route and rounded the top of his route which resulted in a pick

The 2nd receiver position is WIDE OPEN. Any of those guys can take control of it before the playoffs. I thought it was going to be Eli, but we'll see if Ayres can wrestle some snaps!
