I think it's very difficult to compare players from different eras and have an accurate answer.
Maybe it's easier to compare how two players from one era would fare in another. I.e. Ben and Brady in the 70's, two qb's with the same resources. I really think Brady would last 3 years in the league and that Ben would do a lot better.

You see 300+ DLs have trouble bringing down Ben. He'd have no problem in that smaller league.

Today again showed the huge edge Bradshaw has over Ben physically. Terry had a cannon and thrived in bad weather, Ben has a good arm but his balls do not cut through the wind and snow and flutter.
Anyone who thinks Terry wouldn't thrive in todays watered down NFL are crazy. He led the league in TD passes in 78 when the rules changed, something Ben never has or will do. Terry was a smarter QB who adapted to the new rules and for those who said he had no touch may want to go back and look at some tape.

Not true. Gilliam won the starting job in 1974 as the players were on strike and Bradshaw did not cross the picket line. Gilliam was BENCHED for Bradshaw but like a lot of young people on this board they know less than they think.
Bradshaw was amazing as a QB despite a real rough start. I love Terry Bradshaw but I also love Ben Roethlisberger too.
If I had to choose between them I'd say give me Terry Bradshaw in his prime....it's close but I don't think Ben has hit the level of play Bradshaw hit in his prime in 1978-79. Ben has come close and he still has a few years left but Terry hit a higher ceiling IMO during his career than Ben has so far. But I'm pulling for Ben and trying my hardest to appreciate the fact that we have a Future NFL Hall of Famer behind Center for the next few years. He's amazing too!

It was soo much harder to play QB back then. DBs were allowed to grab WRs. QBs took a beating. There were no west coast offenses with high %, easy throws. Almost everything was deep drops, and throwing downfield. Sure, they would dump off to the RBs short sometimes, but thats all it was. The RBs weren't involved in the passing game like today.
another huge factor is quality of opponents. Bradshaw played legendary teams. Has Ben ever faced a team anywhere near as good as the Raiders, Dolphins, or Cowboys of tge 70s? Even the Browns and Oilers were damn good in the 70s.

We have played, and beat, some pretty ******* good Ravens teams with Ben at the helm. Teams that will more than likely have atleast three Hall of Fame players.

Don't tell that to Ryan Tannehill after the hit he took today that tore his ACL! Do you remember Mark Barron's hit on Ben last year in St. Louis?

But saying "Let Ben take the hits Bradshaw took and see how he does" sure sounded like you were implying that Ben's ability to play well after taking big hits (aka toughness) was somehow inferior.
Good point. Theoretically you can't hit them low. Did the hit on Tannehill get called? I know Barron's didn't. Still, I think most players don't want the 15, qbs know that, and therefore can be a little more comfortable than they were in 1974. This isn't a shot at Ben, just pointing out the difference in eras. Like I said previously, I am just thankful for both, and won't question it. If you have been lucky enough to bang 2 gorgeous women in life, do you get to comparing them to see which one was better, or are you just thankful for your luck?
