Contracts that expire on defense for 2017

The market will set his price but we already know his value to the team. And I bet you a lot of teams will be in line to give him a shitload of money. That's why we will need to tag him

Ugh. Do I have to go back and do a Coach summary quote for this thread, too?

Bell hasn't been as good this year. He has fumbled more ( 4 times, he leads the NFL ) and only scored 4 times.

ESPN says he has 3 fumbles (as do 6 others). Zeke Elliot and Chris Ivory lead the league for backs with 4 fumbles.

This list isn't complete. Sproles has 73 rushes and 45 catches at 4.6 per rush and 8.6 per catch ( both are higher than Bell ). With Sproles Bell's 13th in the NFL. My hunch is there are other non-starters that you can add to the list besdies Sproles.

13th in the NFL does not equal franchise tag money. Other points, Bell hasn't scored much, and he's a fumble leader among RB's. And like I said before Bell plays on an easy team to shine on, with Ben and a fine OL.

Let me check my look ups again. Not sure why Sproles didn't show up. I will tell you that if you would rather have Sproles than Bell, you are ****** in the head.

Ark,

Show me their cap numbers ( Sproles and Bell ) and let me shop in free agency 2017, and I can tell you which player I'd rather have. Williams and Sproles + say an 8 million dollar a year DB or Edge guy I would take over Bell.

Anyway, I pretty much proved that despite having an ideal team to run or catch the ball on, he's behind his 12 to 13 peers in YPC or YPR. He hasn't scored much, and he has fumbled 3 or 4 times depending on which source you use

I do not trust Bell off the field, and it would take Nostradamus to predict he will get hurt again.

because he fumbled 0 times the previous 2 years, 1 time as a rookie. (according to nfl.com)

And how many games has he missed? Might that have something to do with the lack of fumbles?

I think Bell had good ball security. Not this year.

Might, might not.

2015, 6 games, 550 yards, 0 fumbles
2014, 16 games, 1400 yards, 0 fumbles

opposite ends of bell curve, same fumble-stats

Pay Bell. Not my money. With the way the cap has been going up it will not hurt us. And if it does we have managed in the past. Keep are own and sign 3rd tier FA's to fill the holes.

Or in his last 15 games played he has fumbled 3 or 4 times depending on your source.

http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BellLe00.htm

2014 is ancient history for a back, who since then has had suspensions and a major injury. But I did notice in 2014 he was excellent with 10.3 yards a catch.

Since then he has declined to 5.7 per catch in 2015 and 8.0 per catch in 2016.

I might be confusing some people reading. I'll welcome Bell back, but nowhere near franchise stage type of money or better as one poster suggested!

All you have proved is that you are too thick headed to realize Bell's value to the team and see what is in front of your face. We will have 26 m dollars. Could give Bell 12 and STILL spend 14 on a rusher. Not sure why we need one with Chick on the team, though......

Revised numbers. Top 50 RB in total yards rushing. if you have less than that rushing, you don't get to be in this conversation. Bell at #10, but that is only if you include three people who are so important to their team that they get less than 10 touches per game. Ten. And, Bell leads the whole league in Yards from scrimmage per game. not 7th, not 6th. 1st.

Ahh, I didn't think of that. I was sure he had 4.

He is as bad as Ezekiel Elliot. Wouldn't want that guy, either.

You're not confusing anyone, you're reading stat lines instead of watching this guy run. I know it's work, but try watching the ******* games, like I've done, every ******* one since the 1989 season. I haven't missed a game, have had to watch a few on VCR/DVR, but haven't missed a game since then. This guy is the best, bar none, all around player this team has ever seen. Period. You want to cheap out and lose that, that's fine, I'm glad you're not the guy making the calls. When you have Ben in what look to be his last 3-4 years, Brown in his prime, and Bell in his prime, with HOPEFULLY Bryant coming back next year, you'd be out of your ******* mind not to hold onto that grouping on offense. Period.

Joe

I know it's work, but try watching the ******* games

dude, discount a lot of Coach's opinion, in that he's admitted it's based on highlights and snippets from the bar.

Well...that morphed pretty fast. I had to go back and look at the thread title to see if I read it correct, LOL

2 of Bells fumbles this year. Slowing down while running out of bounds, holding the ball in the correct hand on the same side as the sideline. Ball lands harmlessly out of bounds. Next fabricated issue...

What is a joke is I red where Elliot and Johnson are MVP mentions, but Bell isn't. Yet his combined totals top the three.

If anything Bell is underrated, and I will go as far as saying with his pass catching ability is a must resign.

And I am sure the Steelers see his value and will lock him up.

Either to a long term deal, or tag and then a long term deal............

Best defense is a good offense, Bell keeps our offense on the field and thus with a contract expiring and being one of if not our best defensive players (keeping them on the sidelines where they look really good) it makes perfect sense.

2 lost fumbles in what 28-29 games played...wow...he's a real problem!

Funny that guys that incessantly ***** about our drafting want to get rid of the best guys we hit on...well maybe funny is not the right word, yep...stoopid, that's a better word for it. Let's dismantle the OL while we're at it too so we can get Ben killed and squander the few remaining years of a franchise QB so that back seat drafters can have a couple extra picks for their multiple mocks. Fascinating.

Good try Fiji, but it's still weak. Our defense is a work in progress...who knows how effective they will be .
