Need to get Coates going

Nobody questions what he means on the field. He's a dumb *** off it, and there's no arguing that. When it's time to re up him I hope they pass.

I hope they sign him cheap to a 10 year contract before the players dorce a pot clause in the cba... we are about a year from that imo... the massive move towards legaization is tempering some feelings on it and the owners will always give crap like that back for a bigger slice of the pie

My prediction: As teams start having to worry about Green, Coates will bust out for some big games here and there, maybe starting this week.

would be a nice come true if it happened. This O needs him producing again........... Because until then he isn't doing the O any favors.

Oh my God! How ******* hard is it?

Learn the ******* route - run the ******* route.

Apparently it is harder than one would think. I'm hearing yaz though.

I see this happening as other teams only have so many cover guys. So it would be either Coates is covered with #3 or Green is covered with #3, either way either one should have a big day.

Salute the nation

By now Coates should be able to use those broken fingers to catch one would think. I wouldn't be surprised to see a few thrown to him this week.

He should be healed by now, so I assume any issues he has now is mental.

Tomlin mentions that Coates has issues with his fingers and catching the ball especially when he is coming back to the quarterback. At least there is a little more info on Coates and what’s been limiting him. He has ran a number of deep routes.

So we got another Mike Wallace???

He's been healed. He played WR 3 games ago and Ben missed him twice. The past 2 games he was active but didn't see him playing WR and not targeted. If he's still running wrong routes, he must be an idiot and will not make the team in the future.

There's more to that, Coates rarely runs a come back route, from the time he "broke" his fingers, he's been on special teams fielding 70 yard kicks, and blocking, grabbing, and tackling, how in the hell can any of that help heal broken fingers?

It has served as one of the*Pittsburgh Steelers’*greatest mysteries this season. An unmasked man with taped up fingers,*Sammie Coates, sitting on the sideline for the past several weeks.

But*Mike Tomlin*thinks there’s too much being made out of the story. The reasons why Coates isn’t playing are simple.

“He just needs to show he’s capable of consistently overcoming the adversity that’s come in the form of the hand injury,” Tomlin told reporters at his Tuesday press conference.

He’s been deemed healthy, and as Tomlin pointed out, doing a nice job on special teams, but not performing well enough to get on the field. Just one snap for him against the*Buffalo Bills*and still, just one catch since early October.

The “overcoming adversity” is probably true enough but it’s basically the same line we’ve heard for weeks. When expanding on the things Coates needs to do, Tomlin got a little more specific.

“[The broken fingers] makes it difficult to catch the ball consistently, particularly when he’s working back to the quarterback. Until we can get some comfort or clarity in that area, his offensive contributions are going to be limited.”

Coates has shown he’s a deep threat, don’t forget he’s averaging over 21 yards a catch this season, but hasn’t been well-rounded enough when healthy and certainly not since he’s been hurt. But that looks like the one specific area the Steelers are trying to see Coates bounce back in before putting him on the field.

Though again, Tomlin doesn’t think there’ a shroud of mystery to it. Broken fingers suck.

“I know you guys think there’s more to the story than what it is but it’s not. The guy’s got two broken fingers on one hand.”

Wouldn't broken fingers be healed by now? Its been two months right?

Too bad he can't run comebacks. Those are big advantages to have a big bodied receiver with long arms, who can run that route. Just think Anquan Bolden.
