Brown great wr, but a douche imo to the fans.

He was supposed to come to an autograph and picture thing from 530 to 630, he showed up at 6:10 and said he couldn't do pics and signed for 30 mins, people who were in line got shut out, kids were outside crying. Then he shows up 30 mins late to his radio show every week. Why the hell does he even agree to do this **** if he's going to big time everyone?

I meet and spoke with AB in a bar called Rickey's in Fort Lauderdale.

Famous for their food and no windows Brown and McFadden appeared. I heard it on the radio, and it was on my route home so I stopped in for a drink.

This was before Brown was famous. I must say he was very small and unassuming, but very appreciative to be in the NFL. McFadden looked like he was an extra in an urban gangster movie.

Perhaps fame has changed Brown, but for the 5 minutes he spent with me, I thought he was a good guy.

Maybe he was late to the signing because he ran into some fans on the way and they wanted an autograph. Maybe he decided to take the time to be nice and sign their stuff so they wouldn't think he was a douche. Then he was late, and others thought he was a douche. Douche if you do, douche if you don't.

It's funny how many negative stories came out from fans about Ben, but as soon as anyone says anything about Brown most people get all pissy.
Brown has done this a few times in the past few years, but he's a Steeler so hey he's great. I bet Brown has never been late for a commercial or promotional shoot.

Maybe he should start charging $50 per autograph at these sessions to make it more worth his time.

Signing are what they are, you have enough time to stand in line and wait and hope while the signer has many demands on limited time and may not be able to get to everybody. Happens all the time and seems to be much ado about nothing.

It's funny how often people forget that these famous athletes are just people too. I have no issue with the stories of Ben being an *******, I've been accused of being an ******* at times when I wasn't, and it was just someone who was upset that they didn't get their way. So anytime I hear a story like this, I take it with a grain of salt...

Secondly, these athletes have agents and representatives that are the ones that line up these appearances. A lot of times, they only mention it to their clients after the fact and not finding out if they can even make it there before they book it.

Brown also has kids, I'm sure he'd rather spend time with them

They still run this stuff by them ahead of time, and they have to agree to it. I have no problem with players not signing after games or practices when it's 90 degrees out. I really don't have any problems if guys don't want to sign autographs at all, but don't make a commitment to do it then not show up until it's almost over. Just don't agree to do it ahead if time.
He agreed to do the radio show on Tuesday nights with Gerry Dulac and never shows up until it's half over or sometimes doesn't show up at all and doesnt even bother to let them know.
Like the Dapper Dan award which benefits local charities, and is a pretty big deal for Pittsburgh athletes, they checked with him and scheduled around him and he still no showed.

Great wr, top 3 in the game, I'll still cheer when he scores, but he's a self centered douche IMO.

I've met Brown over 10 times and he's always been super nice to me. People have bad days. No one knows the details of this dumb appearance at Planet Fitness. I've had Jerome Bettis and Hines Ward act like ******** around me before.. Greg Lloyd told me to go **** myself when I was 8 years old. Kevin Greene punted a dudes football at training camp one year.

Antonio always bends over backwards for the fans. During preseason games he's had the ball boys come get jerseys from me and take them over to him so he can sign them. He gave me his gloves from one of the preseason games. I was at a signing in Robinson a few years ago and I wasnt paying attention and they had him sign something in the wrong spot / wrong color and it hardly shows up ..so I was complaining and I was the last one thru the line and he went out of his way to ask me what I needed cause I was complaining.

I know you have a hard on for him for whatever Coryea..ever since he missed the signing in California. You posted that one too.

Lol that is fantastic. I'd almost feel honored to have Lloyd say that to me, I wouldn't have expected anything less from him back in his playing days.

Lol yeah. I was basically heart broken. My dad couldn't believe it. I actually met Lloyd last month and he couldn't of been any nicer. I wanted to ask him about it but I chickened out. It was him and Kirkland that night at Woodsons bar. He came down the stairs and just looked at everyone and said for us to all get a ******* life. Said he wasn't signing any autographs cause he was getting drink. It was after we beat the Jags in 1996 .

. You made an commitment, have some respect for a fan base especially the kids, who idolize you.

A lot of fans don't "like" Bell and Brown. Why?

A lot of "typical" Steeler fans tell me, "Brown and Bell are great talents, but I just don't like them."

I have heard/been texted those sentiments more than once. Why is it?

With AB, I think it is his diva act that bothers them. Also, the repeated celebrations that draw flags bother them. Once? OK. Over and over again? Not acceptable. I also think the whole "Dancing with the Stars" (Yes, Hines was on the show too), the whining about not getting the ball enough.....it comes of as selfish I guess.

With Bell, I think it is mostly the repeated weed smoking that bothers them. Not being able or willing to knock off baking also comes off as stupid and selfish.

Personally? The above things irritate me a little, but I won't go as far to say I don't like them. Yes, somewhat selfish and immature, but overall, I still like what they bring to the table and am happy they are Steelers.

That is an awesome story and certainly an honor! I won a contest to have a Steeler come to my house when I was in I think fifth grade. We figured it'd be some backup, but it was Greg Lloyd. He was coming from a commercial shoot after practice and stayed for over an hour extra. He was awesome when he was there interacting with the whole family. I mentioned it to him when he was at Heinz Field earlier this year and while he didn't remember that night specifically, said he remembered doing a visit for that contest. Good enough for me!

Haha wow that's great. I remember those contests. I always entered but never won.

I think that's a fair assessment. I also think that some fans are rubbed the wrong way from the self promotion, which Brown is all about on social media and Bell with his rapping career. I like both of the guys, but I like the locker room team leader players better or the under-the-radar hard workers. I've always been drawn to those types of players.

Bell hurt the team with his suspension and Brown hurts the team with dumb penalties.

Bell- suspension(although mary jane isn't a problem to me, adhere to league policy). All aside. No complaint with Bell, the kid works at his craft and is a special talent. I believe he is the best offensive player on the team.

Brown- Diva. Playmaker no doubt. But diva

Same. Always loved the under the radar guys. Kreider, Hoke, Cedric Wilson(2005 playoffs) come to mind

Oh and my fave under the radar player. Deshea Townsend

Eh. Do it for the kids. I'm a fan of the Steelers not the individual. Brown is busy all understood, sometimes football just takes such a toll on the body. Idk about you guys, but sometimes when you're overworked, hormones and such fluctuate and there are days you just want to punch every damn thing in sight. Maybe Brown was just having a day. The 30 minutes late to his show all the time is douchey. But it happens. As an adult I don't go goo goo gaga over stars. I've met Bryan Cranston, Kenny Thomas(NBA), Clay Guida, and Holly Holm. I've treated them as any other person, rather than trying to put the spot light on them. Sometimes high profile people like to lay low cause they deal with the attention constantly. There is just so much that goes on. Douche? Yes. Forgiven? Sure

Not quite under the radar, but hard working fan favs are players like Hines, Woodson, Lake, Bus, Miller are the kinds most Steelers fans prefer.
