A nice article on the acquisition of Ross Cockrell. We sometimes forget, though we didn't have the best track record drafting CBs, this low risk, tactical pickup turned out to be gold:

not all are bad decisions by the F.O,
Ross has worked all the way to be our best CB, he's very consistent in level of play and I'd like to see a cheap long term contract using the RFA as leverage to the negotiations. The team can have their future 1,2 CB tandem at a discount price with him and Burns

He was pretty good to start the year and then sucked for a few games. He seems to be getting back close to where he was early in the year. To call him gold, at this point, probably not. Maybe silver. But, he will be our starter next year with Burns. I just don't see Golson ever playing in the league. I hope I'm wrong on that but 2 years in the league and the guy hasn't even made it to camp yet. He has a looooooooooooooooooong way to go to get back in shape and ready to play at this level.

Rex was less attentive with **** than he would have been if toes were involved. Cockrell has been a VERY good addition plus boosted by subtraction of Blake. Thank you FO, this Shlitz is for you.

Salute the nation

Cockrell was a guy many here targeted as a guy to take in the spot we drafted dri archer... i wanted Bryant there.. but we ended up with Cockrell and bryant anyhow so whatever...

Actually, Golson made it to camp this year, and was having a good camp, and then got hurt. Maybe next year he'll make it even further and make it OUT of camp. You may not be able to count on him for future plans at the starting CB position, but you certainly can't count him out either. I will never count ANYONE out after what happened to Sean Spence...
