In a division, where the leaders only have 6 wins, the Cleveland Browns have been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. And it actually happened last week when the leaders only had 5 wins.

Another terrible blow to an organization that just can't figure out how to be competitive, let alone win a game. They may go winless this season, and I'm fine with that. If the Steelers have a chance to send them to the 0-16 basement on New Years Day, it will be yet another reason for Browns fans to hate the Steelers, and I will love every second of it!

Congratulations on your basketball championship, and for making it to the world series, just never forget that your football team is a laughingstock and has been for a decade.

Could be a record or a TIE for the record of fastest elimination from post season play in the NFL. The brown's fans can stick that feather in their cap............................amongst other places.

Salute the nation

I think they finally have a decent coach . Cleveland will probably be a good team in a year or two. but you are right, this year they are horrible

With Panthers Loss, The Browns Now Mathematically Eliminated From The Playoffs

By NFLMemes - September 8, 2016

The NFL season kicked off Thursday night with a lowB repuS 50 rematch between the Broncos and Panthers at Mile High. After capturing an early lead, the Panthers coughed up the ball a few times and handed the momentum and lead to Denver. Carolina stormed back on the final drive only to miss a game-winning field goal. With the Panthers loss, seemingly against all logic, the Cleveland Browns have now been mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. “It may seem far fetched but it indeed true,” said Shumandad Patel, professor at MIT.

“I’ve calculated the results back and forth, this way and that way and crunched the numbers over and over tirelessly, factoring in their strength of schedule, projections, their current roster, conference opponents, also factoring the torn ACL RGIII will suffer around Week 6 or 7 and I get the same result every time: playoff elimination.” Patel added, “This is unprecedented. To see a team eliminated before they even play a single game! This is unfathomable in the field of sports but it has just happened. Leave it to Cleveland.”

What really makes Browns fans hate us is the fact that we don't really consider them to be rivals any more. They live for the two times a year they play us and meantime we don't give a crap.

The Browns are working with the theory more players to compete the better competition and the better team you build I don't hate the theory if you are willing to risk going winless for a season or even two. I liked Kessler as a QB for the Steelers to target but I was thinking round 6 not 3. I wanted Pryor in the supplemental draft as a WR and I believe the Steelers did also but he stated he would not change positions and we backed off. I wish we'd have brought him in after the Raiders cut him to at least see if he had changed his mind. Obviously, having the option of either an NFL check or no check he choose the position change. Imagine Pryor opposite of AB. That's a tough combo to cover. Looking at the draft I do like what they did in Coleman, Ogbah, Nassib, Kessler, Schobert, Louis, Kindred, DeValve, Payton, Drango, and Higgins all made their 53 man and many actually start. That is a lot of roster spots from one draft class so if they can develop into starters or at least quality backups that is a nice draft for depth. I think they still need a stud QB, which they will have their pick from Kizer, Trubisky, or Watson this year and maybe if they can find a RB in round two they will have their skill positions filled. I guess the way I see it they decided to tear the band-aid off and have the one season of hurt but with hope it is only short and then they can start to rise. I could see them with they hit on a QB and RB next draft being a good young team come 2018 or 2019.

Anymore? It must have been a burgh thing.

I have Pittsburgh roots but didn't grow up in Pittsburgh and when I was a kid I knew a Browns fan. I told him I was a Steelers fan and he was like "booooo". I was like WTF and he had to explain to me the rivalry. I just thought the Browns were the team the Steelers always beat twice a year.

We're their big rivals but they're not our rivals. The Ravens are our big rivals. And normally they are competitive. The fact that they are the old Browns makes it worse.

Noll was 1-13 his first rebuild year. They are winless, but staying in games. Their roster is loaded with rookies.
Out of their 14 draft picks, 12 made the roster and the other 2 the practice squad. They will have 4 picks in the
first 2 rounds this year. Not defending the Browns history, just seems a little early to evaluate the rebuild and new
coach.

How many times have they had the opportunity to draft a potential franchise quarterback and passed? Until they get serious about this position they'll be one of the worst teams in the NFL.

Mean-spirited and hate-filled.

You make the world a worse place.

Well, we ALL KNOW there is no such thing as an iron clad franchise QB so we can't really claim they always pass on franchise QB prospects, but they have definitely passed on some that TURNED OUT to be franchise guys, as has every NFL team in existence. I wouldn't say that the Browns passed over an immeasurable amount of franchise QBs; look at the QBs who were thought to be stud, non-misses.

Heath Shuler
JaMarcus Russell
Ryan Leaf
Akili Smith
Rick Mirer
Brady Quinn - who they actually drafted
Tim Couch - whom they also took
Andre Ware
Matt Leinart
David Carr
Joey Harrington
David Klingler

Now, let's look at who the Browns did draft/sign in the last few decades.

Couch, Tim 2 59 22 37 0 .373
Anderson, Derek 3 34 16 18 0 .471
McCoy, Colt 12 21 6 15 0 .286
Weeden, Brandon 3 20 5 15 0 .250
Frye, Charlie 9 19 6 13 0 .316
Hoyer, Brian 6 16 10 6 0 .625
Quinn, Brady 10 12 3 9 0 .250
McCown, Josh 13 11 1 10 0 .091
Garcia, Jeff 5 10 3 7 0 .300
Tomczak, Mike 18 8 4 4 0 .500
Pederson, Doug 18 8 1 7 0 .125
Campbell, Jason 17 8 1 7 0 .125
Manziel, Johnny 2 8 2 6 0 .250
Kessler, Cody 6 8 0 8 0 .000
Wallace, Seneca 6 7 1 6 0 .143
Delhomme, Jake 17 4 2 2 0 .500
Detmer, Ty 11 2 0 2 0 .000
Wynn, Spergon 13 1 0 1 0 .000
Gradkowski, Bruce 7 1 0 1 0 .000
Lewis, Thaddeus 9 1 0 1 0 .000
Griffin III, Robert 10 1 0 1 0 .000

Of course, but they aren't even trying.

They traded out of the No. 2 spot this year and passed on Wentz and Lynch. In 2014, they took Manziel over Bridgewater and Carr. Of course there is always Winslow over Roethlisberger. There have been some lean years of quarterbacks, but when given the chance to take a top prospect, they've passed basically every time.

Come on SF. Objectivity is not his strength.

I definitely do not think it is a case of them not even trying. In their thinking, they thought they had way too many needs to use their first round on a QB, considering the class that was there. And, I realize after 3 weeks of the season, some were reserving a place for Wentz in the Hall, but since then, we cannot even assume he will be a solid QB. He might be, but we don't know yet and he has played poorly the last month. When Cleveland came back to the NFL, they took the QB (Couch) that every team believed was the worth first pick over all. The Browns were not alone, by any stretch, in their opinions about him. They took a shot with Brady Quinn, and most teams thought he was a legit franchise QB prospect.

Look, I am leaning towards believing the Browns are continuing to make bad personnel choices, but there is no logical reason why they are choosing not to try. That just doesn't make any sense on any level.

I'll agree that Couch was well received as a high prospect. He had a lot of talent, and nearly did succeed, minus a couple nagging injuries. He may have been a more successful QB on another team with a couple years of seasoning before starting.

I watched a lot of Notre Dame. Quinn was good enough to be an NFL QB, but I always questioned his ability to handle the pressure in the NFL. He was a poor QB with happy feet when he got hit, and the NFL has the best hitters in football. He shrunk and disappeared in Bowl games, which also made me question his ability to lead a team in the playoffs. He was a good prospect, but he was far from a can't miss and had his share of warts.

Ad hominem attacks and clearly inaccurate. My assertions were 100% objective, supported with facts, not your hate-filled diatribe.

Hate is an incorrect inference. I am very indifferent toward you.

You are just bothered that I figured you out...

This Cope Pop rivalry is starting to seem quite like the Steelers Browns rivalry...Cope remaining indifferent just fueling Pop more.

The assertion that many teams had Quinn as a franchise QB is far from fact by the way, many franchises deemed him as a ceiling of possible starter, only a few (the Browns being one) were desperate enough to talk themselves into him being a potential franchise QB.
