College Football Weekend

I don't see how Ohio State can not be in the playoffs. Actually, they should be the #1 seed because Bama has no big quality wins. Ohio State has several, OSU has beaten 14 Oklahoma on the road, 8 Wisconsin on the road, 10 Nebraska, and 3 Michigan.

Ohio state was already ranked 2 and just beat 3. They are in. They have to be in.

Conference Champ was meant to be a tie breaker type criteria, not a prerequisite.

We are not talking about Ohio State OR Penn State/Wisconsin. We are talking Ohio State AND Penn State/Wisconsin. The question is whether PSU/Wisc as B1G champ, the toughest conference this year, gets in ahead of Clemson or Washington if they are also conference champs.

Don't worry. They will be. Not so much that they feel sorry for them and how things turned out Big 10 wise. It's because they have lots of fans and that means big money.

If Penn State wins they have to be in. They would have beat OSU and Wisconsin and be a conference champ. As for OSU they have wins over 4 ranked opponents while Alabama has wins over 7. If alabama loses to Fl would they put both AL and FL in the playoffs? I can't picture them leaving the SEC champ out.

I'll say this about the Michigan vs Ohio State Game. That's 4th & 1 when OSU had the ball and the QB tried to sneak it....he was given an early Christmas Present! He was almost a yard short of that First Down Marker and it was 4th & 1. That should have been a Michigan win! HOW THE **** do you blow a call that is so obvious on a replay that he didn't even come close. He ran right into the DL who had him almost a yard short of the first down marker. A complete screw job! Should go down in history as one of the worst officiating calls ever!

A YARD SHORT huh?

Michigan got flat out ripped, that was pure trash, I don't care for PSU,OSU, or Michigan, but even OSU fans know they were given a gift there.
So PSU has a great chance to win the Big 10 after beating OSU earlier, but will still be ranked behind them?

Yes, a loss to Pitt will do that for you.

I'd love to see two B1G teams in. But some of y'all are forgetting that this is a TWO LOSS PSU team. Not a one loss team, a TWO loss team where one of those losses came against a team that was unranked and remains unranked. If PSU had not lost to Pitt, there wouldn't be any question that they deserved to be in. But, by losing to Pitt, they left the committee a lot of wiggle room. The loss to UM wasn't the deal breaker. The loss to Pitt could be

Whatever happens, I hope there is a lot of controversy.

Somebody's fans are going to be PISSED .... hope it's not tOSU's. But then again, this wasn't supposed to be their year anyway. Youngest team in the Power 5 and all that.

I can only see one SEC team in

Alabamas numbers are so good they get in with a conferance championship loss... Its slightly different with a team that didnt even make the game over a team that loses it

And I'm pretty sure PSU is the second youngest. These two teams are going to have some epic battles over the next 5-10 years at least

Looks like a first down, but the yellow line is wrong. The first down is the 15 yrd line. You start on the 25 in OT and the yellow line is a bit shy of the 15.

How can you say he made the yellow line and not the 15 when they are overlapping?

This is the only place where there is controversy about that spot.

If you are saying that the yellow line is overlaying, or on top of, the white line, I'm going to have to ask how much you've been drinking.

I've seen nothing conclusive either way. I've seen video footage that looks like he's short, but the camera angle is not perpendicular to the line, so it's not conclusive.

And when the video is inconclusive .... we go with the call on the field. I think the ref made that concession when he said the play would stand rather than "is confirmed".

In any event, it was nice to see Harbaugh have a full on meltdown during his presser. Some of you guys (and gals) are lucky in that you only have to put up with one whining, *****-*** Harbaugh. I've got to see both of them throwing tantrums every season. Like his flipping his play sheet onto the playing field and giving the Buckeyes extra yardage with the resulting unsportsmanlike call didn't make it easier for the Buckeyes to get a TD. Hell, the kids showed more composure than the coach.

There are two distinct lines, not sure what you are looking at?

Like someone said it all depends on the camera angle. I do not care either way it was much better for PSU that they won so its all good.

You're not very perceptive.

First of all, you can't see green in-between the two. Secondly, compare the thickness of the white line to the hash mark, it's clearly thinner because.... the yellow line is overlapping.

No, the yellow line does not overlap the thicker yard markings that are denoted every five yards simply because visually, the yellow line for some reason is all but rendered invisible. For that reason, when the yellow 1st down marking is (as is usually the case) in between the larger five-yard stripes, then it shows the true 1st down location but when it is right on top of the large white stripe, it is put just shy of the actual 1st down location.

Take a look at the yellow stripe when it is right on the small yard stripe. The yellow line is clearly visible between the white markings, but seems to "disappear" on top of the yard marking. If the yellow line were put on top of the larger marking every five yards, running the length of the field, I think it would all but disappear, and the visual is thereby put a bit "off" of the larger yard marking.

I understand that barring something conclusive you have to go with the call on the field.

In that case, I guess I'll just have to agree with whoever said the yellow line in that photograph does not represent, and in my opinion very clearly does not represent, the point on the field that the ball needs to reach in order to be a first down. I'm not really sure what seeing green between the lines would mean, other than the yellow line being even more non-representative of where the ball would need to reach.

The fact that Penn State is only down 12-10 at the half is amazing. The defense can't stop anything. Only thing stopping MSU is MSU.

Of course, when your QB throws like Edward Scissorhands, that isn't gonna help much.

Good thing the defense who couldn't stop anything was able to pitch a shutout in the second half. And somehow, Scissorhands ended up with 376 yards passing and 4 touchdowns. Don't get why guys like you and tape are down on McSorley, but whatever.

Congrats to Penn State. I can see a more heated rivalry developing with MSU after the way the endings of the last two meetings have played out.

Alabama will crush Florida. OSU is in. Penn State needs to win and hope Clemson and/or Washington lose their conference title games, because one-loss champions are going to be tough to keep out. That's why I was hoping Utah could beat Colorado -- I think USC would have then eliminated the Huskies. Plus I have a feeling Michigan might still be in the mix after taking #2 to double overtime on the road.

It's going to be interesting, that's for sure.

forward progress may or may not have gotten the ball to the line to gain; either way they would've called it, there's no way you can overturn.

yeah, that's it! they can't fool us, by God! why i bet the buckeyes couldn't even beat colorado!:sad1::rolleyes2:
