Why can't we have a Ben predissessor? Ben's replacement cant just come in without learning as much as he can from Ben. I mean we meed a real QB like a first round. Any college QB's comimg up? I don't really know College football but getting into it. Plus I'd feel a lot better withca real QB comimg in if Ben goes down again. Not these guy's we have.

I agree. A very simply process to pick a franchise quarterback.

if Ben goes down there's no rookie QB that would save our ***, the D can just hold on, the game must be won scoring a lot of points

The reason they haven't drafted anyone is you don't want to have a QB sitting behind Ben and have his rookie contract expire before he has a chance to get on the field and start. Ben has 3 to 4 years left. So, the logic is to get a QB when Ben only has a year or two left in him. The tough part about that is the guessing about Ben. If Ben is still playing at a high level in 4 years, you keep him as the starter. I do think we are very close to that window and if we have a top 15 pick this year, they could pull the trigger on a QB if they think the right one is there. If not, it's more than likely next year or the year after before they draft a potential new starting QB.

Eason would time up about right, blue chip prospect with a big arm/can make all the NFL throws and it will be a couple more seasons until he comes out being a true freshman.

Definitely nothing in the upcoming draft that makes me want to take one.

Couldn't agree more. This is a very weak QB class coming up next draft. I'd hold off for the following year.

Yes, very weak, but we still could draft a better back up

The last thing the Steelers should do at this point is invest a 1st round pick in a QB. We have 3-5 years left at most with Ben. Those picks need to be used to shore up the defense and other needs. Until Ben retires, it needs to be a Super Bowl or bust mentality. I wait until Ben retires and sign a mid priced veteran QB. Then I think about drafting a QB in the first round. At that point, a 5-11/4-12 season could happen and the high draft position will be there to provide that next franchise QB.

The good thing is that there seems to be less time required these days to get a QB up and running in an offense. I do not think we need to panic and spring for Ben's predecessor only to have him sit around. We look for Ben's predecessor when it becomes obvious we need Ben's predecessor. I'm okay with waiting until at least the 2018 draft

Ike Taylor made a call to Tomlin and Colbert prior to the draft and high recommended that they draft one Dak Prescott. Hindsight, I get it but we could have had a great potential replacement for Ben. Oh well!

After Ben will be like After M*A*S*H. Not very good.

As it stands now? Sure

But a lot can change in one year, a lot more in two years, etc. and we will have Ben at least that long

The Cowboys season was destroyed last year because Romo went down. This year, they're the best team in the NFC and maybe the league, and one could argue Romo going down actually went a long way to facilitate that. So who knows where we'll be this time next year, this time 2018, 2019..

The word is "successor." Ben's predecessor was Tommy "Lawn Garbage" Maddox.

I concur with this line of thinking, but at least for this draft, I don't really see any guys out there that are worth trading up for, as far as qb's go. they're probably better off making a move sometime between 3-4 years.

Unless you dumb luck into Tom Brady, it's important to suck bad enough to get a top 10-15 pick. I don't think we are there yet.

Bradshaw,Ben and a lot of years in between. This is no easy task. The time to win it all is now and the next 3-5 years. The better OL we have the better chances of keeping BB longer

Poor Tommy Maddox.

You know he played some pretty damn good ball for a season. Then he got his head damn near imploded and he was just never the same again.

The lawn trash thing was mean. Even Kordell never got lawn trash. Frickin Kent Graham never got lawn trash!

could grab McCarron (sp?) from the Bengals if they would let him go.
