Daryl Sims (1985) is right up there with Richardson and Stephens. The Edwards pick is particularly aggravating because I was screaming at the TV to take Jevon Kearse, who was a miracle to still be on the board at that time....

Richardson played only five games with the Steelers in 1991, registering two tackles, plus another on special teams.[7][8] Part of the problem was that the Steelers played a 3-4 defense, and Richardson didn't have the build to play defensive end in that scheme. The Steelers made him an inside linebacker, and he didn't make the adjustment very well. Following the 1991 season, long-time head coach Chuck Noll retired and was replaced by Bill Cowher, who tried to switch Richardson to outside linebacker (his position for the first three years of his collegiate career). When that didn't work, Cowher asked player development director Tom Donahoe if it was too soon to cut him.[8] When Donahoe said he should keep the top forty-seven players regardless of their draft history, Richardson was traded to the Washington Redskins for a seventh-round draft pick; if a trade had not been possible, Richardson would have simply been waived. After four uneventful games with the Redskins, he was released and signed with the New York Jets. At the end of the 1992 season, after seven games with the Jets, Richardson's short NFL career was over.[7

Jones was probably a 5th-round talent taken in the first, but he at least could make a team as a back up, but unlikely as a starter, unless it's a really bad team. Actually, hell, Ziggy Hood was every bit as bad of a pick. I actually forget, another 1st round pick on the front 7 was wasted with this crew. That makes 7 first rounders used on the front 7 in the last 10 years, and the D still sucks? THAT is some losing-*** drafting. Our D should be a ******* juggernaut. Well, it kind of is if we played the Browns every week.

Oh, and Kendall Simmons is as bad a pick as JJ. And Troy Edwards was even worse. But make no mistake, I am not defending the JJ pick; it sucked real bad.

The danger in keeping him is the coaches may be tempted to play him as rotational player and Colbert may not feel much urgency to find a legit starter at the position. As of right now, the Steelers don't have any true starters at outside linebacker and they need to upgrade the position. I like Jarvis as a backup, but if his presence on the roster holds the team back from trying to find a significant upgrade, I let him walk.

um still don't think that qualifies him as a bust, as he didn't have a opportunity on the field to show which way the pendulum swings.

I call bullshit on this,, I gotta look it up,, but Kirland was a beast in the middle. Green and Lloyd were outside..

no need to look it up Kirkland was a oversized ILber. And had nothing to do with Greene or LLoyd.

He was a strange ILber as he could cover and stop the run at that size. He finally ate hiimself out of the league. But didn't take away from his main body of work.
 
Dupree in half a season last year has one less sack than Jones does for his career
 
Wig said Kirkland was only a starter because Greene and Lloyd left, Kirkland was drafted before Greene ever came here and as stated, he played inside they played outside, the 3 of them played 3 full seasons together.
 
Yep Jarvis was the worst first round bust in Steelers history, if you've only been a fan for 3-4 years. While we did draft him way too early he may not even crack the top 5 bust list.

Being only a round ahead of the likes of Alonzo Jackson he starts looking even better, you know like a middle of the road NFL back up.

Pretty sad that I would even take Jason Worilds back if he was in shape. The guys is still only 28 years old and averaged almost .4 sacks a game versus Uncle Jarvis here with a ridiculous 0.100 sack per game average.
