Does anyone no, if him being suspended for the entire year. if it counts towards a year of service. or do the Steelers get him an extra year.

It counts as a year, pretty sure.

Yeah, he will still have two years remaining on his contract. That's why his salary doesn't count this year on our cap because we aren't paying him.

Also why the Browns still hold Gordon. He would've been a free agent two years ago but he didn't play in enough games to qualify as a accrued season.

Yup, we own Bryant and his contract is on hold during his suspension.

No, it does not count as a year of service. He is still signed for 2 more years, I believe. That is, if they want him to come back.

Could we use him, HELL yes but hard to feel sorry for the selfish pedestrian. Hope he is obtaining the help he needs to become productive in the NFL again.

How much longer can the NFL keep suspending players for smoking pot, when it is becoming legal in more places?

Should be clarified by the next CBA.

I say just unban that ****. As long as the players do it on their own time away from the facilities and can come in and produce then no problem. The league doesn't have a say what the players do on their own time unless it results in a loss of life or some career threatening incident

I have a hard time believing that pot alone is the making of his problems. Some of these guys grew up around rough characters. Sometimes it's hard to break away from those associates. So thats my theory

Sure they have a say as does every employer. They pay the bills. That entitles them to expect you follow the rules set in place. But yeah get rid of the weed rule it is ridiculous.

True employment is a right and every company has the right to make their own policies around things like that, as long as they aren't discriminating against protected classes

That being said, the public sentiment is obviously overwhelmingly in favor of marijuana use in general. Whether it is legalization or just de-stigmatizing (is that a word?). The NFL will risk appearing archaic, not to mention will continue to take entertaining players like Martavis Bryant, Le'Veon Bell, and Josh Gordon off the field for extended periods of time. And for what? Is it REALLY that serious Rog?

Just stop testing for it. Take guys off the field for things that matter like performance-enhancing drugs, really hard stuff. Who the hell cares about weed? So many of these players are doing it anyway, and everybody knows it

I believe the NFL is banning on marijuana because it is a criminal activity. But if a Seattle or Denver player uses legally based on state law, could the NFL
justify a ban. I believe it will be negotiated in next CBA and will no longer be a banning offense. With the punishment that NFL players deal with, medical use
could be widespread someday. It actually could be team supplied someday.

On a players free time. At least put forth a system similar to the rookies symposium. If these guys want to smoke. Off season, days off of practice, in the confines of their home. The employer has a say when it escalates to a news worthy incident as it comes off as a black eye for the organization and an already tarnished image of the nfl

smoking cigarettes is legal in every state, but their are company's out there that will fire you for it.

The NFL weed policy is a stupidity test. They know exactly when they are testing them prior to camp. They know when they have to stop to get it out of their system and morons like Bell and Bryant, among others still fail the first one, then you're in the protocol. I'm sorry, but I don't feel bad for any of them. If those are the rules, follow them. It's not that complicated. I don't care how good a player is, once they got to one more strike and a year off they get no more contracts from me. How much proof do you need that they don't care about the game?

....damn expensive weed is for some.It costs some guys millions of dollars. Just walk the line and live the dream. Is it really that hard?

I say it's up to your boss...Owner of the team

EXACTLY, why should someone have to be responsible for themselves................. They're giving us the money so THEY should be watching out for us..................
