The good the bad and the ugly

the arrogance of the team/coaches is what is hurting us. 3rd and short, bomb. 3rd and long, run.
going for 2 at all cost...

they started out running, windy as hell, and set the tone. Controlled the game. then play calling started to get funky. Maybe they were treating this like a practice? Who knows...

Third and long runs are pretty standard to avoid a costly turnover. Third and short bombs are a Ben Roethlisberger favorite. Not sure I blame the coaching staff on that one. You hate them when he misses it, but love them when he connects.

would rather he let that hand heal and not play on SS, that way he won't aggravate the healing process. And as a result be back where he is needed more as a 2nd WR.

Who do you put in his place? Look at the inactive list today. I believe just about everyone but the OL they sat wasn't healthy enough to play. Heck, I don't even think Dupree was healthy enough to play and he was active for the game.

good point

Best part of the day and season for me was seeing James Harrison get the sack record today. He sure as hell has earned it. I wanted to see him go out a champion again this season, but that looks improbable at the moment.

no matter doesn't take away from what he accomplished.... but yeah those Bettis' ride off into the sunset sporting a ring....is always welcomed

The ugly...rigged officiating.

The good was the pressure. I realize it wasn't against an NFL quality opponent, but they consistently brought it. You can't make plays on defense without pressure. Also, Artie Burns in my opinion was better than good.
The bad was the redzone play that was beyond horrible.
The ugly was a couple of those calls they made to try and keep Cleveland in. Particularly the one with AB on third down.

In a passing league. You are right, but here is one thing of many I do not understand from these NFL teams. A consistent complaint is that teams can't practice tackling anymore. If that is the case, wouldn't it behoove you to pound the football with the running game? Force teams to do more of what they cannot practice consistently. If I was the Steelers, unless the guy is 300lbs and dumb as a stump, I'd bring Karlos Williams up from the PS and ground and pound with him and Bell, Give him about 8-10 a game. Toussaint and Richardson just don't give you that. Besides, right now, outside of Brown, who is getting doubled and tripled, they don't have anyone else that seems to be able to get open consistently at the WR position, or TE for that matter. They may need to create more off of playaction if they can get the running game going to get guys open. Playaction doesn't do dick without commitment to the run.

makes sense. I think we could use more Nix. We haven't seen hardly any FB this year,, or I just missed it.1

Burns is definitely a good. Sure he gave up the TD, but he had an INT and could have had 3 of them. He's turning into a playmaker, which is something we never had at CB (aside from Gay's 3TD year), since Woodson.

Ugly: Browns were 5 for ******* 5 on 4th down attempts. It's a good thing McCown didn't start. He's the better QB. He came in cold on a windy day, and immediately drove them for a TD. Kudos to the D for forcing a fumble, or this game would have been a lot closer.
