Could also be a Tomlin thing, same **** every year. What does Ben have to do with the over all team not being prepared or focused? That is more on the head coach.

Roethlisberger’s totals on the road have him at 18 touchdown passes and 18 interceptions since the start of the 2014 season. At home it’s 51-13. Not that we’re counting.

Mike Tomlin takes a lot of heat for his team’s record against “bad” teams on the road – it’s not 5-11 vs. sub.-500 teams in the past 16 games – but it’s as much Roethlisberger not playing well on the road as anything.

Bell has averaged, I believe, 150+ yards from scrimmage in the 3 games since he's been back. Getting him the ball in the games has not been an issue. He gets his runs and he gets a lot of targets in the passing game.

Ben was injured in the Miami game and probably should have stayed out in the 2nd half. He obviously had no control of the ball and overthrew many resulting in a couple of INT's and missed wide open receivers. Tomlin needs to see that and pull him if he can't perform due to an injury.

That is a gross oversimplification... In the vast majority of those the whole team has been crap... Look at the philly game.. Bens numbers should have been sterling but drops and bad routes killed us and the oline was a mess... The defense let them get ahead and made the offense predictable... As much as people want to make the qb everything, the team around them has a ton to do with their performance, as does the scheme and strategy employed by the coaches... I think its safe to say the pattern of underperforming vs crap teams gets laid squarely at the coaches feet at this point...

Probably because Benny, as you call him, steps up and shoulders the blame every time we lose, even isn't mostly his fault.

As diver stated pointed out when the game plan is revolved around you you have to play well. And let's not make any mistakes the offense is revolved around Ben. We are a passing team. There fore those stats are very relevant. He has to play well. And since when isn't it all about the QB?? If you don't have one you suck. And if you have one you are expected to win. That's what everyone says. Tomlin has Ben he should win. But if Ben doesn't play well it's on Tomlin

Of course not. But, when a player is injured and can't perform, then, yes, you should pull him. Ben could not hit an open man. He had countless overthrows in the 2nd half, 2 resulting in interceptions.

Who cares if he shoulders the blame? Big deal. At the end of the day, what has it meant the last number of years? All that **** is window dressing. The plain fact is he has played poorly in too many games per year over the last number of years and it has cost them. It's a fine line, as Cowher used to say. Since he is the "centerpiece" he can't do that and then have them go where they think they can go.

Well, hell. I thought it was you who said "centerpiece." It was someone else in this thread. Still, I don't think anyone can argue that as Ben goes this team goes, at least the way they have set it up. If that is the case, he just can't have games like he does here and again.

What I would do is make sure that isn't the case. They need to get back to more of a power running game. Let the line blow someone off the ball. Hell, if Karlos Williams isn't 300 lbs and is in any kind of shape, I bring him up, cut Toussaint. He's a nice kid, but really doesn't give you much. Williams displayed some power last year. Give him 6-8, give DWill 6-8 and Bell 15-20, along with his pass receptions. Keep Ben at no more than 30 a game. In other words, make him less of a centerpiece. It makes no damn sense to be throwing the ball all over the place when teams can't practice tackling anymore. Make them do in a game what they can't practice. Spread around the responsibility more.

I don't know what the hell Tomlin is watching, but he always says they want to be a physical team, but they just are not. Those days are over as constituted now. How can you be when you pass the ball around all over the place all game? And that will permeate through the team. What I can't understand is they seemed to be doing it in the first 2 games of the year, got away from it in Philly, and can't get it back.
