Roethlisberger for MVP of the NFL

It's still way too early and lots of time for change, but right now Matt Ryan is MVP.

Atlanta has been underdogs in 4 of their 5 games and won all four. Ryan is putting up insane number. They've beaten both Super Bowl participants last year. They are 4-1.

Can't really ask for much better than that.

Julio Jones had a 300 yard game for the falcons, that's a big reason Ryan is so far ahead.

The thing that has always chapped my *** is when we had Hines Ward and Burress it was them who made Ben look good. Burress left had two good seasons and nothing else. Then in was Santonio Holmes who made Ben look good. He left and never sniffed another thousand yard season. Then it was Mike Wallace who hasn't had a thousand yard season since and is not on pace yet again this season even with Elite Joe Flacco throwing him the rock.

I guess the long and short of it is Ben makes good receivers look great. Mike Wallace and Holmes could both be hall of fame receivers if they'd have kept their nose clean and stayed with Pittsburgh. Brown will likely stay and will end up being a hall of famer but no one will give Ben the credit he deserves. I even feel Roethlisberger gets snubbed even if he has MVP number this year or any other. And I feel he gets snubbed and even though will likely have better career numbers than the like of Aaron Rodgers, Roethlisberger will not be a first ballot HOFer because the media has their head up Rodgers ***. Rodgers is a very good QB and likely a HOF caliber QB BUT he also has Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, DeVante Adams all high round draft picks to throw to. Ben turned a 3rd round pick in Wallace and a 6th round pick in Brown in to super stars. Bottom line Ben makes the players around him better and to me that is a sign of a great QB not a good QB.

I feel the same way, which is why I'm happy he's staying in "blowout" games, and those stats get a little higher. He had two very bad/dumb moments with women in the past, and that will cloud over his football career.

I think this same thread is made every season early in the year... lets just wait until at least week 10-12 then have the discussion. Still so much football to play and Ben needs to keep playing at this level.

I love me some Ben, but in fairness Rodgers numbers are stupid good too.

I mean epic stupid good.

I think Julio Jones is the bigger MVP threat than "Matty Ice", lol.

Was going to say the same thing. Without Julio, Ryan doesn't even sniff MVP votes. Matty Ice likes to lock onto his #1 target fairly exclusively. It was Roddy White before Julio racking up numerous 10+ catch games over a few seasons as the #1.

Ben has been spreading the ball around all season and would have even better numbers if Coates and Wheaton didn't turn into Limas Sweed at times. Coates still has over 400 yards this year (along with AB)...Atlanta's 2nd WR Sanu has 195.

That super bowl was hard to call the mvp. I personally harrison deserved it. Without him that drive probably does not happen. It would have been hard to argue against ben or holmes winning as well.

Harrison's play was great, but it came in the first half, that drive came in the final minutes to win the super bowl while under a **** load of pressure, that may have been the worse starting oline to ever win a super bowl. How many Super Bowls ended with the winning td being scored that late? And it was the second perfect td pass he made, Holmes dropped the one before that

The thing Rodgers has always had is an o-coordinator pumping his stats by throwing in the red zone. He had two huge TD years because of that and good TD years almost every year. Haley is letting Ben throw in the red zone now and look he leads the NFL in TD passes. Like I said Rodgers is a good QB but he couldn't hold Favre's jock strap and I would say Bart Star in my opinion is still a better franchise QB than Rodgers.

Ben didn't play too well against Eagles and Bengals, so 3 out of 5 games does not an MVP make. Way too early
on this question.

"Roethlisberger for MVP."
/s Coach

"Roethlisberger throws too many interceptions."
/s Coach

Ben is leading the NFL in touchdown passes with 15, and 3rd in passing yardage. Brady missed too much time and his backup looked very good, which make you wonder how much of it was their coaching / system.
or their ******* cheating!!!

Forgot a major part of their status

I love Ben but.. games like today is why he'll never win an MVP. He looked like he didn't watch a minute of film on the Dolphin's D. He looked confused all game long. That being said, the OL didn't play great and maybe the WRs weren't getting a lot of separation. Either way, Ben looked awful.

He has no chance. Today was run up your numbers against bums day and he **** the bed. LeVeon averaged over five yards a carry and barely saw the ball. We are a stupid football team sometimes.

Incredibly stupid!

He could win if he'd take the safe pass and keep moving the ball...throwing into triple coverage is not a good thing. Bell should have ran for 1/2 the plays in the 1st half...get momentum and control the game.

I agree but also Remeber that they abandoned the run. Was that's coache's call or Ben's. Either way they could have changed the dynamics of this game. Even if they went to the run right after that field goal was blocked, there was enough time. That would have opened everything else up. There just wasn't any effort from anyone. AB knows to force himself out of bouinds to stop the clock.....NO effort of that at all from him. I would have liked to seen Ben holler at some of those guys, but he himself was a part of the problem. It's early in the season so there still is time but Ben Rothlesberger MUST step it up to even be considered.

I think Ben is officially out of the running. This thread should get the Premature thread of the year award.

and who is responsible for the team being stupid?

drumroll please

Ben is who he is. I have stopped getting irritated at his insistence on throwing a 40-yard go pattern on 3rd and 3. He will never stop doing that. It is just who he is.

Thinking back, the 38-yard TD to Antonio Brown on 4th and 1 against the Chiefs was probably a bad thing ... just encouraged more of the same.
