Green to practice next week PPG

Heath miller was drafted while injured... Many said hed have reoccuring injury issues so he fell to us... Howd that work out?

I could see him getting injured again too, but you cross that bridge when tou come to it. I could also see him dominating the middle of the field making it impossible to cover Brown and Coates as our offense puts up 30+ a game and we ride off with #7!

Green was no blocker when he was healthy. He'll have to prove his worth as a pass-catcher. If the NFL had a lemon law, Green's next number would be 86'd.

If Green comes back and he is anywhere close to what we seen him like in SD 81 and 85 are NOT just as good.

No way.

1) We have other TE's who are just as good and 2) he WILL get hurt again and go on IR.

Man I need you to give me some pick 3 and 4 numbers

Green will play this year. Good thing with his contract, the Steelers can get out of it at the end of the year.

With his $4.75M signing bonus, his remaining bonus is $3.56M after this season. His Salary is $5M next year, so if he doesn't work out this season, The Steelers can cut him next year and actually save $2.625 from next year's cap number and he'd be off the books the following year.

I'm not saying the Steelers will do that, but they created a contract with an out if they have to release him due to injury.

Exactly... the guy was a potential game breaker caught behind a HOFr. James shows the potential to be a solid Te... this guy can change the coverages, if he is healthy, of course

srdan: When completely healthy and practicing all week. Do you expect Green to be a shoe in for 80% of TE snaps?

Alex: That’s a good question. I’m really not sure. He was brought in to be the guy but Jesse James is playing well as a receiver and it’s not like Green is a great blocker.

I do think he gets that 75-80% range though. He’s so much more dynamic than James. The team knew what they had in James, his general progression, and still wanted Green. It’s hard to sit a guy when he’s causing a matchup problem on every single play. And opens the offense up even more.

How did Wheaton work out in his first game back after missing a ton of practice? And he was already here last year. I don't like Green's chances going into a game having never played with the team. New plays, new terminology (although I'm sure he's been studying), new teammates, new QB. He'll either ding his ankle again or more likely get another concussion and be on concussion protocol for a few games or the rest of the year. I didn't like the signing from the beginning.

I did once hit 6 numbers on the old Super 7 and won $2000.

I'd look for him to be available to he activated after the bye week. I highly doubt he'd be able to play next week vs NE on one week of practice.

I actually don't think he will produce much of anything all year. He has no chemistry with Ben and it's doubtful he will get any this season. James is who Ben will go to this season.

I'm sure Ben won't have much problem getting chemistry with him if he's open down field. Chemistry is overrated.

This!! Ben will find they open receiver...no matter who it is Chemistry comes into play more when he can just look at his receiver and they both know what the other is going to do....the only WR with on that level is AB...

Frankly I'd cut Green.

No way!

If he's a Steeler and his name is Green, then the dude can play ...Joe Greene, LC Greenwood, Kevin Green, even Eric Green, that big fat *** TE was a beast.

Wealth of knowledge here. I didn't realize the smarts behind Green's contract. Thanks for the explanation.

Green is allowed to practice this week and said he is ready to practice. So, why isn't Tomlin letting him practice (not sure if he practiced Thursday but he did not on Wednesday)? They only get a 3 week window to determine if they want to bring him off of PUP and onto the roster. It makes no sense to not have him start practicing this week. Anyone hear any news on this?

Steelers notebook: 'No timetable' for TE Green's return

As he has been since July 28, Green remains on the physically unable to perform list after offseason ankle surgery.

WHEATON, OTHERS OUT

Markus Wheaton's left shoulder continues to affect him this season. The receiver did not practice Wednesday three days after he missed his third game of the season because of it.

Tackle Marcus Gilbert, safety Shamarko Thomas and running back DeAngelo Williams also did not practice. Starting safeties Robert Golden (foot) and Mike Mitchell (knee) and linebacker Ryan Shazier (knee) were limited participants.

Green will start practicing next week. The coaches font want to take reps away from the guys who will be playing this week.

So, they lose a week with him to see if he is truly ready to be added to the active roster. Unless they still plan to get rid of him or know he is still injured, that makes no sense. Let him practice now so we can see what we have and he might have even been able to play after the bye. Something isn't right with not letting him practice this week. They're holding something back again.

We have a bye next week..him practicing will only take reps from guys who are actually playing in this weeks game.. he will have two weeks to get ready for the next game.

They're trying to time up his return to field with Ben's.

They don't want Landry throwing him the ball. Leading the "Ferrari" into a big hit causing him another concussion before Ben ever gets a chance with him.

Dejan says that the Steelers don't want to start the time table for him to return yet. He has three weeks to get activated from the day he begins to practice. So the Steelers are waiting until the after the bye week to initiate his return. He is ready to go.
