I'm terrified to see this. Please get healthy quickly Ryan Harris, and essentially Gilbert.

If Gilbert is going to be out a substantial amount of time you almost have to see what's out there. We can't use Chris Hubbard for a long period of time.

According to the media 53 told reporters he will take snaps at RT today.

I think Starks might be available.

Which tackles are on other teams practice squads? There has to be someone better.

Potential stud, Hawkins (on the PS) is out injured. He was a beast at LSU.

I don't like the Hubbard option, at all - but, I have faith in Coach Munchak. And like I said in the other thread - if Timmons can come back a week after severing his artery; Harris better rub some dirt on his hematoma and get cracking!!!

Completely forgot about Hawkins. Damn shame he is hurt.

Gibert will be out.

Harris has a shot, if they can cover the hematoma with a protective shield (kind of like a shin guard in soccer), he should be able to play.

Looks like Pouncey will take snaps at RT today in practice.

If Pouncey plays right tackle and pulls it off I don't want to hear another word about him on this board

That's a giant if.

I had hematoma on my ankle in H.S. Happened Monday. I played Friday. But I was about 50% and could hardly walk / run. Just saying its a painful thing. BUT I didn't have pain meds, I had to soak it in a bucket of ice water for hours to get the swelling down. I was on antibiotics. We actually did use a soccer foam backed shin guard and turned it somehow and taped it up.

****, I like Pouncy and would want to compliment him..................(LOL)

You nailed it antdrewjosh.!!!

Salute the nation

There's got to be somebody more serviceable than Hubbard. Isn't Jake Long still out there? I know he's long in the tooth, but I'd have more faith in him. Remember Hubbard's shotgun snap last week? UGH!

If Pouncey at LT means Hubbard is not on the field I'm all for it, but I DO NOT want Hubbard at center. I'd rather have Finney at center and Hubbard at guard.

wouldnt the proctologist or finney be at center if pouncey goes to rt?

Agreed, and I doubt Pouncy can hold his own at Right Tackle without some help. When the roster was set, I wondered why Hubbard even made the team. Are you telling me there are not better tackles in the practice squads?

Sure Hubbard has some versatility, but he's 3rd string at C, G, and T.

I think Hubbard is the player that put the football on the ground during each practice as the 3rd or 4th string center. If it was him, I don't want him snapping, EVER.

Maybe Wallace is close to coming back. Jake Long is available.

Agreed. A bum center can completely destroy the interior running game, and screw up shotgun. As for who would be better at RT, Hubbard or Pouncey, it depends on the DE. I'd mostly side with Hubbard because he practices at Tackle. Pouncey lacks the punch and kick. When you combine this with no being used to speed rushers, I think could get someone hurt.

At C or G, Pouncey >>>> than Hubbard. But at tackle, they are both bad, with one being completely inexperienced. So I'd roll with Hubbard. If Foster wasn't hurt, he okay at tackle and played there in college.

Years back Faneca was forced to play some Left Tackle. He held his own, but did not look good. Pouncey isn't that good or strong

Munchak did it with Big Al, could Big Dan be converted to an offensive tackle? Ben could have the biggest bookends in the NFL (hey, there's been dumber ideas)

The Steelers will practice later on this afternoon and we’ll get a better idea of what they are going to look like on their offensive line.

But it’s not likely to be pretty.

Guard Ramon Foster missed last week’s game against Kansas City with a chest injury and right tackle Marcus Gilbert and his replacement, Ryan Harris, are both questionable to play this week against the Jets because of ankle and knee injuries, respectively.

That’s not good news against a very active New York Jets defensive front.

But it’s nothing new for the Steelers, who have grown accustomed to playing at less than full strength.

Tomlin always says that injuries are as much a part of football as blocking and tackling, but when you’re severely limited in the former, it can directly affect your results.

That said, the Steelers will come up with a plan to give them a chance to win Sunday. I wouldn’t be surprised if that includes Maurkice Pouncey at right tackle and B.J. Finney, who played really well last week, at center - particularly if Foster is back.

Even if Foster isn’t back, the Steelers can’t possibly put Chris Hubbard at right tackle. That didn’t look good in the preseason.

Pouncey is their most athletic lineman - witness his jaunt down the field in front of Le’Veon Bell’s 44-yard run against the Chiefs. Finney showed he can play at a high level against the Chiefs and Hubbard is much better suited to play inside.

That is the most that makes the most sense.

You put Hubbard on the outside and cheat the best blocking TE to his side. (probably Johnson)

Hopefully Harris plays

Offensive line this Sunday

Markice Pouncey says he is taking some reps at right tackle this week, presumably to act as a back-up to Hubbard if Harris is unavailable.

If Harris is available, then the Steelers would have 3 tackles on board. If not, then I have to believe they make a move and add practice squad member Matt Feiler to the team.

Feiler is a small-school guy, big (6'6", 330 lbs.), strong (36 reps at combine), but with shorter arms (32") and not great footwork.

He is projected to play G, but in this instance, the Steelers would really have no choice but to consider as a backup for both tackle spots.

Okay, I see Justin started a thread already on this topic ... so go ahead and merge me, young man.

And stop stealing my thread ideas.
