Jesse James is a long way away from a Heath Miller caliber player and doesn't possess the athleticism of Ladarius Green. But he has definitely shown the ability to be a well-rounded tight end over the first two games and seems to be building a chemistry with Big Ben as his check-down guy. His blocking still needs some improvement but the potential is definitely there. What do you all think?

I for one am excited by the possibility of a three TE look with Green Grimble and James and Brown and Bell. Let's see teams defend that.

The arrow is definitely pointing up with this guy and with experience he could be almost on par with Miller. I don't think Green should be in the equation at all because he won't see the field this year.

With the athleticism of Green and Grimble, it would definitely be a scary matchup for defenses. They could use "2" TE sets with James and Grimble and have Green split out, much like he did sometimes with the Chargers. Scary redzone offensive look.

Exactly how would defenses match-up? Play nickle or base or even goaline because with that set we can run down hill. Or play action. Or show a goaline look then shift to a spread. I can't wait.

Again, I will take that bet. Easy money.

I was really "meh" on the pick of James... but after watching these first two games, this kid can play. There's reason to be excited about him.

Jesse is fulfilling every expectation anyone could have on him. Reliable hands, hard worker, if he improves his blocking and he is very young and can also add muscle to his frame so there's no impediment he could be a really decent starter for us, probably not at Heath Miller's level but that's a tall order for anyone

Agreed. Many assumed he'd be a weak point. He's been a pleasant surprise, at least in the passing game.

Let us not forget that he came out as a junior and is as green as a summer peanut field.

For you damn yankees.... this green.......

Like what Jesse James is showing to start. the season. Certainly appears that his off season weight loss- body transformation is paying positive results.

I think you may have been one of those Coach. Along with our punter, both rookie DB's, Cockrell, today Mitchell, etc, etc.

But now that he is doing better he will ignore your post

So when do you think Green will contribute to all of this "scariness"?

Week 9, Bon us he comes out earlier. JUST note, I'm NOT talking "Jenner" coming out type either............

Salute the nation

I still think his upside is a good No. 2 tight end or average starter. His blocking needs to get better, but he uses his size well. Can the guy get open down the seam? Still waiting to see this play, which was one of my favorites with Miller.

Honestly? My gut tells me it won't happen this season. Maybe it's the skeptical side of me but I just don't trust it. While the say it could be week 7, I don't see them rushing him back, especially if James and Grimble are performing well. You never want to see a "redshirt" year for a guy on a $25M contract, but I wouldn't be surprised if that ended up being the case. Only time will tell, I suppose.

I'm fine with the ones we have, Green might not ever be on the field as far as I am concerned, or the active roster.

Jesse James still having issues with blocking

Still he is getting valuable playing time and will improve

The silver lining to this is he is not resorting to holding. Far better to get a one yard gain than a loss of ten. There are some things to like about what he does. He does engage his man, He moves to the point of engagement well. Things like getting stronger and getting better technique will happen. For many of these young players the first time they get taught technique at a high level is in the NFL. The college coaches do not seem to be putting in the time to improve their players by much.
