Instead of knocking their D why not praise our OL?

“That’s all the O-line man, all the O-line,” Williams said about his performance. “You can’t discredit those guys, man, because we’ve worked way too hard to put on a show for everybody.”

Williams put on a show, too, with his age making it even more impressive. He wasn’t impressed that I mentioned that he’s 33.

“Why can’t I just be a running back?” Williams said. “Why can’t I just be a running back? Why does my age have to play a part in the performance that I had last night? It ticks me off to hear people say, ‘Hey man, at your age you don’t look like you’re slowing down a bit.’ Like can I just be a football player? Why does the 33 age have to coincide with me when you talking football?”

He crushed them

He makes me feel old.

Don't sweat it as your Avitar will never get old. D'will was fantastic and it takes a lot of HIS ability to make what happened last night happen. He realizes it also takes a LOT OF THE OL to make it happen. "HUMBLE" is a great attribute and DeAngelo has some.

DW is a GREAT fit here. He may not be here long but he will be on a lot of fans' lists of favorite Steelers.
If anyone doesn't have him on Facebook and Twitter, you should.

I'd be happy to be 33 again. Age isn't the only factor on how RB's decline. The number of hits taken also has a lot to do with it. Willaims spent many years in a split backfield in Carolina.

We all saw how fast and explosive he is. If I did not know his age I'd guess he was still in his 20's.

That guy's a stud. I love me some Williams.

Just an unselfish, completely team-driven guy. Sure he's got some opinions but as far as the team goes - man he seems like he's a "Steeler".

I sincerely hope when Bell gets back that Tomlin doesn't do what he did last year and just exile Williams to the bench again. I hope they do give him some reasonable touches. I know a RB needs some carries to get into a groove, but they'll both have longer, better careers if they share the load a bit.

D Will is a guy that deserves to earn a super bowl ring as a Steeler. I think he is putting a lot of welcomed pressure on Le'veon Bell. I wouldn't worry about DWill getting on the field after Bell returns. Bell will lineup wide or in slot, while DWill is in the back field. Williams will get his touches in more situational football as well.

With Bell's status unclear, Williams could really cash out if Bell's not back.

What?

Next year?

wtf are you talking about, we're not paying him superstar money - we'll draft a RB if Bell ***** up again

next year next year next year - **** next year - concentrate on winning this year!

Exactly We are not giving Williams a big pay day. Either Bell proves he can be reliable or we draft his replacement. Williams can show his age at anytime

I think when Bell comes back you will see Bell lined up at WR Alot. His touches will come at RB and lined up wide.

D Will is NOT old for a professional football player IMO. He has just over 1600 carries in his career! His age has very little to do with it. NFL players don't typically 'slow down' until their late 30's. He has as many attempts as a primary RB would have at age 28-29.

Look at it this way, Bettis had over 3000 carries, LT had DOUBLE what D Will has now and Curtis Martin had over 3500 carries. Emmitt Smiff had over 4000 carries at age 33 and still averaged over 3.8 yds/carry.

D Will is capable of playing another 3 years and still won't approach the avg number of carries for a RB. He has only averaged 160 carries a year whil MOST RBs carry an avg of 300/yr.

While the argument of injury being more likely as we age, one could also argue that those injuries could happen to anyone at any age and are most likely to happen to someone with an injury history...I'm good with the 'old guy'.

But are you willing to give him big money when his contract is up??

No, and most of the reason has nothing to do with his age. Folks say Williams hasn't used a lot of the tread on his tires. However, he's very close to 1800 carries in his career. RB's have a tendency to fall off once they've hit that 1800 carry mark.

DeAngelo, at the time I'm writing this, has 1658 career carries. Too close to that "magical" 1800 carry mark to even think of signing him past a 1 year contract once the current contract is up.

He is amazing, but he's our backup. And he's right, our line Killed it for him on MNF. He had huge holes in the 4th qtr. On all the 3rd and shorts, he was never hit in the hole, and easily converted. He does have the talent to make the first person miss, but he's running 3-4 yards before he even has to do that!

DWill knows he's not an elite RB, and loves playing behind an elite OL. I believe, at this point in his career, he will choose to stay and play for a winner with a great organization in place for less money.

First of all the very first sentence is retarded. Mike Vick was a very fast running QB. D Will is powerful, big RB. The analogy is terrible.

Second of all, your age is what it is, and you are not allowed to decide how people think of you. If they think of you as a 33 year old back, then that is how they think of you, whether you want them to or not.

But, bottom line, the front office nailed signing D Will. At the time, I thought it wasn't very bright; I thought we were looking at another Duce Staley type of signing. D Will was not only over 30 years old, he had a history of being banged up in his career, and missing games from injuries. In all honesty I think they kind of got lucky, but I will take it. He has proven to be a real asset due to our injury-prone, hippie lettuce-smoking star back.

Choose to stay? This could very well be his last year. I know he looked good Monday, but once backs are in their 30's, they can lose that half step seemingly overnight. At 33, he will hit the wall soon.

I agree that's the case, we'll see how many carries he gets this year first, since they should drop sharply at week 4.

I don't see DWill as never getting touches like last year though when Bell returns. He should be keeping Bell fresh and finishing off 4th Qtrs when we have leads.

When it happens, it seems to be overnight. D Will played great Monday, but I wouldn't be surprised if my next year he is toast. I think they will take a RB in the 3rd round or later.

That is announcer talk ,not Steeler Nation talk. I do believe Tomlin should have taken him out before the last drive, game was over, first game and all give him a rest.
