Bud's been MIA for a long time and isn't playing vs the Panthers. Is his injury that serious? If this was a regular season game, could he play?

I posted weeks ago that he likely wouldn't be ready for week 1

That's the problem with guys like Polomalu, Dupree and Shazier.

You love that they play with wild abandon but how much can their bodies take? Course in Dupree and Shazier's cases, they haven't really been on the field / team long enough to have gotten the **** kicked out of them like Polomalu did over a career. Dude was a BEAST!

How can you link his injury (which in most cases can be lingering, and needs to time for full recovery without risk of reinjury) to his playing with "reckless abandon"?

That was a few weeks ago. People heal at different speeds. I haven't read any updates.

If's he's only out for week one, okay. But is this injury going to keep him off the field beyond week one?

Given the time he's missed, I'm at the point of being concerned. However, I'd be more concerned if he was a proven commodity. Until he shows otherwise, the replacements aren't much different in terms of production.

Moats will fill in just fine.

I think Moats is better than Jarvis Jones. He had double the QB pressures in 2015 and is a bigger, faster , stronger guy. I haven't seen the Carolina game yet, but both Moats and Chikillo had a sack.

At this point Moats is probably better than Dupree.

Moats is ok. Dupree was a beast to start last season, then he trailed off. Hopefully he is in better shape when he gets healthy this year. Jones looked pretty good in the amount of time I saw him this pre-season, so I hope he turns the corner and shows something this year.

Joe

Moats is twice the OLB JJ is. He plays with great emotion with feeds off of after making plays he gets the sub package players going as when Moats gets a sack or makes a play for loss it fires, you start seing those back ups fired up and raising their arms asking for the crowd to get louder.
Troy always rushed back after a injury maybe if he sat perhaps a dozen games extra games out over his career it could of prolonged his career by 1-2 years and 2012 after he picked off carsuck returned it back for a intc he got hurt and should have been limited or sat until the div game as in the super bowl he could not on crossing patterns stay with Jennings on that td or close in coming down hill in coverage , still after Bettis my next fav Steeler of all time.

Eh, just don't see it with Moats. He's a great guy to have on the team, but better in the role as a backup or spot starter, at least from what I've seen from him so far.

Exactly, saying this he seemed to improve this preseason.

Perhaps he can carry it over into a career year.

I think it is more like their body type allows them to play very aggressive and fast but does not necessarilyallow them to stand up to the punishment. There are thoroughbreds and plough horses. Thoroughbreds are impressive but don't really stand up the same.

Looks like he is gone for the year...

Next man up. **** it. Let's roll. Outside of Roethlisberger or Brown going down you can scheme your way around most of these injuries.

All season with a ****** groin injury. Like Jesus. This team has to do some ****** better stretching.

It's not season ending..he can come back in six weeks. Steelers may carry Golson as an inactive every week til he is back..that's one of options.

maybe Golson is about to get IR'd for the year.

WTF! I hate the team hiding injury news. No way is this a "groin". He will have missed months by the time he comes back. Golson will be on IR. No reason to even consider him to come back and do anything this year. Gilbert will be more ready to play in 6 weeks than Golson will be even by the end of this year. He is still a rookie with no practice time.

Very pissed about Dupree.

According to the nfl network he had surgery to repair a core muscle could be back mid season if rehab goes ok

core muscle/sports hernia, groin pain.... he should be back month and a half...

I've never understood this kind of reaction to this. It sucks but what difference does it make from the team to fans? We like to pretend we're more involved than we are but in reality we're not there everyday and we don't know the extent of it. It's the same thing with the Ladarius Green situation. We're not in the building. We pay money and give our fandom to the Steelers as a whole. We either trust them to handle business or we don't.
