So Thomas has hurt himself again. Not that he's a big loss, but it thins the depth at safety. Anyone hear how long he's going to be out?

If he's going to miss time and hasn't proven to at least be a solid back up, at this point, just cut him and put someone on the team that will contribute. Tired of giving him chance after chance after chance.

Permanently is too short of a time period...

I had such high hopes for him too.

He's one of the reasons I really don't pay that much attention to pre-season hype anymore. Shamarko was supposed to be this great mythical instinctive player.

It turns out he's just a guy.

I wouldn't be shocked if Dangerfield takes his roster spot, sooner or later.

This is a good read:

Roster opportunity in reach for Steelers' safety Jordan Dangerfield

Since arriving in the NFL, safety Jordan Dangerfield has been on something of a roller-coaster journey. Although the young player has been released several times, all but one has come at the hands of the Steelers. With the names of the first cuts starting to emerge, Dangerfield finds himself still in the mix, however.

The Buffalo Bills were Dangerfield’s first stop as an undrafted rookie free agent out of little-known Towson University in 2013, but he was let go in the final round of cuts. Arriving in Pittsburgh as a futures signing in 2014, Dangerfield has bounced on and off the practice squad while failing to ever see time on the 53 man roster.

For some, the continual rejection may be hard for to deal with, for Dangerfield, he tries to see the positives. The Steelers have consistently re-signed him after all, as he told Chris Adamski of Trib Live.

“It shows how much they see in me — or how much potential they see I have, so I am just trying to show them that I can contribute to the team any way they want me to.”

It is not only the coaches who see something in the safety either, as it seems Mike Mitchell is something of a fan himself.

“Danger is one of my favorite guys. He’s a guy literally who shows up everyday; he’s happy to be here, he’s an extremely hard worker, If you’re a football purist, you root for guys such as Jordan Dangerfield to make the team and you root for them to be successful. If ‘Danger’ gets an opportunity to lay you out, that is one thing he is going to do, no question.”

Heading into 2016, it might be a case of the right place, right time. Robert Golden looks set to begin the year alongside Mitchell as the starter, with Sean Davis an obvious backup. While Dangerfield lost out to the combination of Will Allen and Shamarko Thomas last year, injury and circumstance might open the door this time around.

Without Senquez Golson, Davis seems to be spending more time in the slot, giving Dangerfield the opportunity to log more snaps. Thomas left the field early in New Orleans on Friday night with a groin injury, as did another safety prospect Jacob Hagen. Indeed, no other safety on the roster saw more snaps against the Saints than Dangerfield.

Among the rest of his competition, Ray Vinopal has seen limited action and has not especially stood out when given the chance. Doran Grant and Donald Washington have spent time at safety and may be the last obstacle for Dangerfield to overcome, but if there was ever a year for Dangerfield to fulfill his dream, 2016 might be the one.
