I'd be alright with signing him to be #3. Other teams should be interested also. Giants and Bengals also put eaiver claims back in May but was awarded to Chargers.
 
I'd be for this.

Also, Aaron Murray is being shopped. I'd take that dude, too.
 
Why not? We have nobody after Jones at all...some would say we have nobody after Ben.
 
I figured this much and posted on another thread not to trade for a QB because he and several others were on the bubble. I'd put a claim in on him, IR Bruce, and ride the first part of the season as Landry Jones as the backup. Mettenberger likely stays there this year but this gives as a young reasonably priced back up next year.
 
A QB with 'berger' in his name...hell yeah.

A few years ago, LSU's offense had Mettenberger, Jeremy Hill, Jarvis Landry, and Odell Beckham and they sucked on offense. Further proof Les Miles is a great recruiter but a ****** coach.

Murray has smarts but not the best arm. Gurley and Marshall masked a lot of his weaknesses. Although his senior season at UGA he did take command pretty well. There was a ton of leadership under center David Andrews and Mark Richt. So I'd be a lot more interested in Mettenberger out of the two

I'd suggest being able to manage a dink and dunk offense might be all that is needed.
 
Murray can be so streaky in his accuracy. He lacks the big arm of Mettenberger but does seem to be a student of the game and a good kid. As a life long UGA fan it pains me to say his ceiling in the NFL seems lower than Mettenberger.

If I'm looking for someone to be an eventual #2 I think Mettenberger is the better option if the 2, but Murray would have potential running scout team. The biggest issue is "shopping" one which infers giving something for him (wouldn't want to do unless it is a player we plan to cut) vs the other being a FA.

I'd take either over Bryn though
