Bell gets Three games

He didn't test positive. Otherwise there would be no reduction. If this is about missing a tests why only one game. If he had a good enough reason why only one game. I agree with Tape. Goodell is a ********

He's just wielding his boom stick, to send a message that "the dog ate my homework/ phone number changed" excuse will not be tolerated in the future

Bells a dumbass.

He got a sweet deal

As part of the settlement that reduced his four-game suspension to three games, Le'Veon Bell was kept in Stage 2 of the NFL's substance abuse program.

His next violation would not cost him ten games or a full season, which would've been the case had Bell advanced to Stage 3 of the substance abuse program. Instead, any future failed or missed test would only result in another four-game suspension.

It should be all four games or nothing. How is there any wiggle room in between. If it was Bell fault then he should do the whole four games. It is that simple. If it wasn't.....well zero games is the answer. Amazing how Goodell handing out suspensions has become a big part of the game now a days.

As part of the settlement, Le'Veon Bell remains in his current stage of the substance-abuse program.

Staying in the same stage of the program means Le'Veon Bell's next suspension would also be four games, not 10. Decent deal for him.

This is huge if the team has interest in a team friendly incentive contract.

The other silver lining is that he will be full ready to go in week four and dipshit Tomlin and Haley really don't seem to know how to manage his carrise either.

Any rationale behind the reduction of the the suspension? I just can't understand the justification for a one-game reduction.

To me what it states is that he was probably in violation of the rules but there was at least a tiny bit to a fair amount of wiggle room in the courts. He didn't get off Scott free (NFL wins) he retains a relatively clean slate (he wins big heading into free agency). There is no way they give that deal if they have him dead to rights. There is no way he takes it if they got nothing.

P.S. but it was a bit of a kick in the nuts to the Steelers. They get him for one whole more game but his FA value just went up about 20-30%

It wont happen that way, on the open market some team will roll out the armored car and back it up to his house. I don't think we have any chance on keeping him.

He next collective bargaining agreement is setting up to be fun.

I think I had the over under on games Bell plays this year at 9.

Bell apologizes for suspension, says he hasn't smoked since 2014

Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell apologized to his fans in a video posted to Twitter, after his four-game suspension was reduced to three games on Friday.

Bell was suspended for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy, and his initial sanction was reportedly for missing drug tests. However, Bell said he never purposely missed or failed any drug tests.

The star running back also said he hasn't smoked marijuana since December 2014.

Bell promised he'll be a better person as the result of the suspension. DeAngelo Williams is expected to start at running back in his absence.

So he admits to stop smoking in December of 2014.....4 months after his dui/pot bust in August of 2014. Smart

He wasn't put into the NFL program until the next year. If he wasn't put on probation by the courts before December what's the problem??

You get arrested and busted in August and comtiune to blow trees for four more months.

That was his choice. If he wasn't driving while smoking what was the problem?? Apparently he stopped when he had to.

He gets busted for smoking pot, illegal and against NFL rules, continues to smoke and you have no problem with that. Ok.

Why would I? How is it affecting my life. It wasn't affecting the Steelers either. So again what's the problem..

And since he didn't enter the NFL drug program until the next year he was able to smoke because the NFL doesn't test during the season unless you are in the program. He wasn't until the next year. So again unless he was driving and smoking what's the problem..I won't get into the whole legal vs illegal debate

Is there a link to the crime and punishment rules in the NFL? The comish can do what he wishes.

Here's the NFLPA link for it...enjoy.

Goodell can do whatever he want, but Bell's suspension and non-change in the program was negotiated before the appeal. Agreement on both sides.Nothing else for the commish to do.

because it is illegal and against team rules and NFL rules....

Now how it effects the Steelers is he has proven to be

1 A liar

2 Undependable

3 A team distraction

It was significant enough that he missed tests that led to this three game suspension.

And if you believe his stories that he isn't smoking anymore. I have some beach front property in the Sahara I want to sell you.

You might want to check again there are loop holes in place that allows players to smoke. Bell like more then half the league used those loop holes voted into the CBA.

Did his smoking in December affect the Steelers is the question..that's what I'm talking about. What led to his suspension was missing tests. What does that have to do with December??

He is a distraction, undependable and a dumb *** for missing tests I agree.. but until he test positive again you can't prove he is a liar.

It's quite simple to deduce that he didn't smoke because his suspension wouldn't of been reduced. He still had to take other tests which he has passed. He also was able to get off probation for the DWI which includes passing tests

David Decastro summed it up perfectly when he said (in reference to LeVeon and Martavis' situation): "it's sad but we're used to it".
