Will be interesting if they keep Finney over possibly a TE.

Tight end is a curious spot because if Green isn't ready to start the season, they only have one capable NFL player on the roster.

The evaluation of Wallace is puzzling. Not sure why anyone would judge a proven veteran backup based on one-on-one match ups in practice.

yeah I thought they were reaching with Wallace.

perhaps a TE is brought in on the final cutdowns ?

need a QB...any chance of grabbing one now?
maybe hines can come back and play if Ben goes down
at least he has heart...

Wouldn't mind if they scoured the market for a TE, QB, RB or CB. Could use depth at all of those positions.

I agree

but the very least CB and TE and right now neither position has experience behind the starter

That picture of James dipping below the LT (and getting the sack/fumble) ought to be the very definition of holding. Every bit of the LT's body is to the side or behind James, with his arm looped around the front of James. Was it called?

I know he signed with the Bears, but Mike Adams was a decent blocking TE for the sub packages. We need another one like this.

There is also of a clip of Chickillo losing contain. Care to enlighten us Coach with your expert film knowledge?

Sure can.

Triblive recently covered this in an interview with Jones, in reference to the Steelers not picking up his fifth year option. If Pittsburgh had picked up his fifth year option, Jones would have been given a guaranteed $8.4 million for the 2017 season. Being as this was not the case, Jones will hit the free agent market at the end of this coming season. On top of this, when a team picks up a player's fifth year option, it means that the team is likely to be looking to extend the contract long-term. The Steelers did this with Cameron Heyward, by giving him a five-year deal worth $59.25 million after three months after picking up his fifth year option last year. They also did this with David DeCastro, and everyone is expecting a long-term deal to be done with the first round guard before the 2016 season.

>>So Antdrewjosh, your crotch jockeying days for Jarvis Jones appear to be numbered. He's a free agent next year. The Steelers do not value him as you do. Its clear as day.

I sincerely hope some dumb team signs Jones to a big deal next season. I'll take the comp pick. And if you want the Steelers to get better, so would you.

There was nothing in my post pertaining to Jones.. I aS hoping you could tell me what happened on the play where it appears Chick lost contain. You know since you played coached and watch film..thanks I will wait for your expert analysis

I didn't see anything in his quote that mentioned Chick. Thought I must be missing something...

And I've said repeatedly Jones must improve if he wants to stay a Steeler. He has underperformed as a first round pick. I'm just getting him to be honest about Chick play in games. He can't even do that

It was reported he hurt his ankle in the game. Post the live clip here and I can as always enlighten you.

The clips said its hard to tell. It looks like Chikillo #56 penetrates the inside and #97 Heyward had the edge on that play. Watch for yourself.

My $.02

Of course it is. If Chickillo is coming inside then it's a stunt with Heyward. But I don't see any urgency in Heyward to get outside on that play. But you are the expert

To be "honest"..

Chick has underwhelmed me to this point.

Sure can.

So are you going to answer the question???

Let's think for a moment. If Chick comes inside, then how is he responsible for holding the edge?

You are 0-2 in a very short amount of time. Man up, 1 ) Chick has done something in NFL games your claim is wrong, and 2 ) he doesn't have the edge on the clip you are crowing about.

I'm not here to make you look foolish by the way. Now I need to get back to work. Will watch the game tonight.

Then who has it?? Um maybe he wasn't supposed to crash down. You ever think that?? He immediately crashes down. And gave up the edge making the OT run block easier. There is nothing from the look of that play that's suggest that Heyward was stunting which would make him responsible for the outside. But again you are the expert Lmao.

I initially was hoping Monday would beat out Berry. Don't look like that will happen and maybe that's for the better. If Berry has improved as stated, then we may have our punter for awhile.
