Team ditching the most love/hated uni's after this season.

Who is disappointed?

Pro: Steelers almost always win when wearing the Killer Bees.
Con: Look like ****.

Steelers have the best uniform in sports and it's never a good decision when they aren't wearing them...unless it is for the old block number jerseys.

Dammit, there goes the census on the bee population...

At first I thought OMGosh, putrid. Now they have grown on me, NOT as a replacement of coarse, but as a change up once in a blue moon.

Salute the nation

I don't care one way or the other. I thought the league mandated the throwbacks like they do the stupid Color Rush unis.

Asian guy at work that doesn't watch football asks me.

"Steelers are doing away with the bumble bee's what is that?"

I told him it is a conditioning ploy the Steelers pull. They release a bunch of bumble bee's onto the field. And well........the players run. Great conditioning ploy.

I rumble with the BEE"sssssssssssssssssssssssssss bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I have no problem with throwback ugly or not.

That's how I roll mane.

:adoration:

Never bothered me. After the game begins I focus on football and hardly even realize what they are wearing.

Uni's don't bother me. As long as they win and their uni stays intact. I remember 2012 against Dallas their runningbacks pants kept falling. Felt bad for Polamalu cause he had crack in his face. Lol

Agree but I would never buy one to wear myself.

I thought the Steelers were black n black? or am I thinking about something totally different...

I read in an article and then again here that the throwbacks are used for a period of 5 years. I guess this will be the 5th and last year. I wonder if the league is going to replace the use of throwbacks completely or if the color rush is the replacement for those over the next few (or five) years.

I'm old school, a traditionalist. I love the Steelers uniforms but didn't mind the throwbacks once or twice a year because it honored their history. The color rush, on the other hand, are meant to be hip or happening or dope or cool or shiznit or whatever means awesome to the young uns these days. Hate 'em, but I have a feeling we'll be seeing a lot of them over the next few years.

I think you're spot on with the assessment at these are an effort to bring in a younger audience. However the NFL just needs to realize that the fan base crosses multiple Generations and the need to become more hip or happening or even the shiznit is a waste of money. It's like the old saying goes " don't fix it if it ain't broken".

Thing is, if they used, say, 1976 throwbacks, hardly anyone would notice the difference.

I'm bummed. Love the bumblebees.

LOL...they are better than that last foray into history, the "inaugural season" look was pretty bad.

The next look will probably be one of the two main looks from the past.

1962-1965 "Diamonds in the Rough"

PittsburghSteelers1963.jpg

OR 1966-67 "Batman"

I just can't see the Northwestern Stripes being an option...too traditional plain Jane
