CBS ranks Timmons as Steelers most overrated

Here's another player who was woefully underrated a few years back, but now is the opposite. At 30, he doesn't run like he once did and that showed up last season on tape. He was even taken off the field in some sub-packages, which hadn't happened for most of his career. He's still solid, but his play is falling off.

There's a reason he didn't get extended. They're allowing him to play out his deal then sign him for a cap friendly deal or let him see what the market is for him. I think there's a better than 50% he's gone after the season.
 
Timmons just never seemed to click....He is a good player but always seemed to be missing something to make him elite. Look at players like Farrior and Foote they were not nearly as athletic as Timmons but always seemed to be in the right spot at the right time. Right now he is over paid and I see the steelers letting him walk when the deal is up.

At the price the Steelers created for themselves by restructuring his contract and pushing salary off to this season. If they could have released and replaced him at a resonable price they would have. They kept pushing back salary. Now he is highly overpaid but not necessarily overrated.
 
He is over-paid. But he doesn't get that much praise, so I don't think overrated.
 
Timmons is a very good, very durable player. But heck yes he's overpaid. Maybe the 5th to 10 best inside linebacker in the game. Here's the thing, Vince Williams is a good two-down run defender. If Shazier wasn't a china doll, the Steelers could spend cap money elsewhere.
 
I think Timmons is still very solid. He was taken off the field on third downs when Shazier was finally healthy and coming on late in the season. That's why they draft Shazier cause he has the speed to cover tight ends down the seam.

Timmons deserves a rest. He's played every down since 2007.
 
Timmons is good. Overrated? Eh hard to say. I don't think he's really gotten recognition league wide. He's not Farrior. I do think he's better than Foote. So yeah he's....good
 
Who gives a **** what a national writer (meaning one who knows just enough to offer uninformed opinions on all 32 teams) has to say? And everybody has a different definition of what it means to be over-rated. Just a worthless, fluff piece that succeeds in getting web traffic from dumb fans that get riled up --- how dare you say that So-And-So is overrated, you suck Prisco!!!
 
I think his replacement isn't on the roster. And I think you can squeeze two more years out of him.

Maybe restructure his contract add on a year lower his cap hit....
 
These bullshit ranking lists of everything are overrated.

Sure...but I was more or so referring to his next contract.
 
Timmons is not overrated. His cap hit is too high, but I don't think his pay received averaged over his service is too high.

Surprised so many came to the defense of LT. Figured he'd get burned At the stake.

I will think about it, but, as many people here harp on, timmons isn't a perennial pro Bowler or All pro. So, if you are rated highly, how can you be overrated?

I do think a lot of people in the NFL think highly of Timmons and only some people here think otherwise.

WTF???? We all know it's Martavious Bryant, some here think he is the coming of Jesus. Little realize to be good you have to play. So he is on the roster and can't play, making him the MOST overrated player on our roster !!!!!!

Wouldn't say he is most overrated on the team. Not sure who that would be as the people rated high are rated high for good play.

LT might be losing a step but he still can play. I'm not sure about signing him to another long term high priced contract is in the cards for us. Something in the 2-3 year range for less then he is getting paid now makes sense to us. Not sure he is going to take a deal like that. We will probably be drafting another ILB early or Vince Williams will move in with Shazier.
